Life gets heavy, hard, and complex, yet through it all we trudge on. Celebrate your small wins when the big stuff feels too complex to even consider.
Sometimes getting out of bed and brushing our teeth is the best we could do for the day.
Moving from the bed to the couch may be all you have in you. Congratulations on pushing ahead. Later will bring another opportunity for another win. We’re patiently waiting to support you to get there.
8 Phases’ team isn’t only here to challenge you towards greatness. We’re also here to encourage you to just continue existing when it’s all you’ve got.
Hang in there, we’re rooting for you!🙌🏽

From the classroom to the counseling room.

Becoming a therapist is a journey—and Jacquina J. Sowell, M.A., LPC-Associate has experienced several phases of that journey right here at 8 Phases Behavioral Health.

From Practicum, through Internships, and now completing her 3,000 clinical hours as an LPC-Associate, Jacquina has continued to learn, stretch, build confidence, and develop her own voice as a clinician under the supervision and mentorship of Shalonvia Gundy, MA, LPC-S.

At 8 Phases, we believe developing great therapists takes more than teaching techniques. It takes real experience, thoughtful supervision, honest feedback, support, accountability, and a safe place to grow.

We’re proud to watch Jacquina move through each phase of her professional journey—and even more excited about the therapist she continues to become.

Same people. More healed stories. One therapist at a time.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to start therapy. In fact, you don’t even have to know exactly what you need.
Therapy is simply the space where you begin sorting through the thoughts, emotions, patterns, and questions you’ve been carrying. Come as you are—we’ll help you navigate the next phase.

You don’t have to be broken to benefit from therapy.

Sometimes strength looks like having a place to put down what you’ve been carrying, sort through what’s on your mind, and get support without judgment.

No fixing. No pressure. Just space to be heard.

“Associate” doesn’t mean you’re getting less of a therapist.

When you see LPC-Associate after a therapist’s name, you may wonder: Should I choose someone who is fully licensed instead?

Here’s something we want more clients to know.

An LPC-Associate has completed the graduate education required to become a professional counselor and is continuing to develop clinically while practicing under the supervision of an experienced, board-approved LPC-Supervisor.

And at 8 Phases, we take that development seriously.

Our Associates aren’t simply accumulating hours toward full licensure. They are being taught, challenged, mentored, observed, supported, and encouraged to think critically about the care they provide.

Ashton Holmes, LPC-Associate, describes learning under Shalonvia Gundy, MA, LPC-S as an experience that has prepared him to walk into sessions with confidence—even as a newer therapist.

That’s the value of great supervision. ✨

Associates bring graduate-level clinical education, fresh training, intentionality, and something else incredibly valuable: another experienced clinician helping them think through their work.

So choosing an Associate doesn’t have to mean compromising on the quality of your therapeutic experience.

It can mean choosing a therapist who is actively learning, receiving ongoing clinical guidance, and deeply invested in becoming exceptional at what they do.

👉🏾 Swipe to hear Ashton describe what that preparation has looked like for him.

💬 Would knowing how much supervision and continued training an LPC-Associate receives make you more comfortable choosing one as your therapist?

✨ CELEBRATING 7 YEARS OF 8 PHASES 🌙

Seven years of healing. Growth. Compassion. Purpose. Impact.

For seven years, 8 Phases has had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of individuals and families across the great state of Texas—through some of their most challenging moments, greatest transitions, and most powerful breakthroughs.

At the heart of that work is an extraordinary team of quality-driven, compassionate, dedicated therapists who understand that this work is more than a profession. It is a commitment to showing up, listening deeply, challenging when necessary, creating safe spaces, and helping people discover the tools to navigate every phase of life.
