Heal With Alicia No longer offering services here, but I continue to share parts of my own journey ✨

I’m just over here learning things like that the October Slide is a thing. Last year I was still looking for answers after a few years of being told “everything came back perfect.” But then BPPV (Vertigo) hit hard and I spent weeks needing help to function with daily things.
This year my flare days have been taking over most days and when they don’t, I push too hard because I finally can. Haha.
How did I not know the season brings this special effect?

It’s cold and rainy today. So, this is my therapy of choice while still in recovery mode. Flare days + mild illness + busy life days are a blur of what’s what right now.
However, the seasons when it is cold bring out the desire to find cozy warmth, and rest. Autumn therapy.

Real life with hEDS and potential POTS/dysautonomia means sometimes we have “flares,” where symptoms are worse. Sometimes we can hardly function for days or weeks.
We can’t always predict the triggers, instead they even change on us. What triggers us one time can be totally fine the next, or vice versa.

Kids are funny. One of my other kids says “No offense, Mom, but I think we would be faster without you!” Hahaha. Guess it’s time to let them go and find some ways to keep myself moving without causing a flare.

Still learning to be my own advocate, I guess. But today’s win: I felt heard.

And this is one of our probiotic soda creations (using a ginger bug). We juiced some oranges and apples, added some of the strained ginger bug, and let it sit on the counter for 3 days fermenting. All the bubbles!

Made a ginger bug because I wanted to. It’s been a few years since my last one, and when I told my younger kids you can make healthy (probiotic) soda at home they wanted to try it out.

I am grateful that I was able to walk almost every time with my kids to school this week. But I definitely started to ask myself why this mattered so much to me. Then I remember when this was so easy for me, and I just miss my body being able to do all the things.

In case you are waiting on the edge of your seat for my exciting journey with my walking goal. Here is week 1 updates!
It went well, but I am also so grateful it’s the weekend. I missed my kids, I pushed myself, and I’m learning how to embrace changes in my life (even if some of that is limitations I didn’t have this much a year ago).

The goal is walking with my younger kiddos to school. It’s been a bit rough with unexpected changes and stress. However, I managed through the week and even made it outside for a good walk 5 days in a row! Now hoping to avoid a crash, because suffering from chronic illness is it’s own thing.
