Late October has its own kind of magic here on the coast. The morning fog settles into the evergreens and the woods are blooming with mycelial intelligence. It's a good time to turn our attention a little closer to home and tend to the things that nourish us. We've been doing plenty of that here in the DuneSide kitchen and feel incredibly blessed to serve this community.

We've got lots of Classic Sourdough today along with fresh Potato Buns and Pumpkin Rolls. Our scones include Bavarian Cranberry Cardamom and Cheddar Bacon. We've also made gluten-free Bavarian Chocolate Chip Scones and Spiced Cherry Apricot Scones. For something a little more sweet, we have Ginger Molasses Cookies and Pumpkin Blackout Cookies. Our gluten-free Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies are out too. We try to make everything with whole foods and minimally processed ingredients that come from as close to the ground as we can manage. We choose organic wherever possible and use nutrient-dense grass-fed butter in our baking. It's our desire to feed others with ingredients we feel good about while investing in growers and makers we believe in.

We'll have new soup and Biscuits & Gravy packaged up later this afternoon, so if you're looking to stock the pantry with some good homemade food, now is a great time. Our apothecary is also filling up with all kinds of herbal medicines and tonics. We've got plenty of good things to explore around the shop today and would love to see you! 🍄‍🟫🖤✨️

If you've been missing our DuneSide Sourdough Pizza Crust Dough, we've got some available today! One of our favorite things is hearing about all the different ways you've been using it. We've heard some pretty creative pizza combinations, and it's always fun to see what everyone comes up with. We'd love to hear what your favorite has been, or what you've been wanting to try.

We've also got plenty of Classic Sourdough on the shelves today. Our Bacon Cheddar Scones are out, along with Gluten-Free Bavarian Chocolate Chip Scones.

For something sweet, we have Pumpkin Blackout Cookies and Ginger Molasses Cookies. We've also got Bee Butter Crunch Cookies and Apple Fritter Cookies, with warm Apple C***r Donuts coming out shortly.

Lots of good things coming out of the kitchen today, we'd love to see you! 🍂🖤✨️

Libra has spent the last month asking us to consider what happens when our individual experience meets someone else's. We learn to recognize different perspectives and find ways to hold opposing needs without either one disappearing. But our relationships also reveal things about ourselves that aren't always visible from our own point of view. Some encounters leave us changed & others show us where we're still holding something we might not fully understand.

Libra's scales help us notice what's happening between things. Scorpio turns our attention toward what is happening beneath those exchanges. As a fixed water sign, Scorpio is associated with emotional depth and transformation. It asks us to examine what we hold onto and why. The natural world is moving through a similar process. Summer's growth is receding and leaves return to the ground, where decomposition makes their nutrients available to new life. What's finished its visible life is still participating in what comes next. Death and renewal aren't entirely separate processes in nature. One creates the conditions for the other.

Scorpio's association with death and rebirth makes more sense through this seasonal cycle. Transformation doesn't always require a dramatic ending. Sometimes it begins with recognizing that something has served its purpose. We can't always know what a change will make possible while we're still learning to release what was. As we move into Scorpio, maybe it's worth considering what our experiences with others have helped us understand about ourselves. What are we still holding onto that might be ready to change?

Happy Scorpio Season! 🍂🦂✨️

In many October traditions, darkness was given a place of reverence alongside the light because both were understood as necessary parts of creation. Even the things that appear to be coming undone are participating in the renewal of life. There's a lesson here for how we approach our own inner world. We tend to resist the emotions and patterns we find uncomfortable without considering what they might be revealing. Our subconscious often communicates through dreams and symbols that draw our attention toward things we haven't fully understood. Perhaps honoring the darker aspects of ourselves means allowing them to be seen without judgment so that whatever wisdom they carry can become part of what we consciously bring forward.

We've been bringing some of this October insight to DuneSide too this week. We've added new simmer pots and mugwort smudges for the season. We also have some pretty unique candies made by an astro-herbalist just in time for Halloween.

Our kitchen is full of seasonal flavors today too. We've got Pumpkin Cookies and Ginger Molasses Cookies out, along with Apple Fritter Cookies and Bee Butter Crunch Cookies. There's plenty of fresh sourdough on the shelves as well.

We're making our last round of Sausage & Cabbage Soup today before switching things up with some new flavors for the weekend. We'd love to hear what kind of soup you'd like whether we've made it before or not. Tell us your favorites!

We're here from 9-4 today and would love to see you! 🍂🕯️🖤✨️

October truly is a liminal time. The world sits between seasons as the last of the harvest gives way to winter’s decent. Trees withdraw their energy toward the roots, and what appears to be dying is already preparing for another cycle of life. The old traditions recognized this as a sacred threshold. A time when the veil between the seen and unseen grows thin and we're invited to turn our attention inward.

As the natural world drops into stillness, we're also drawn into the deeper places of our own psyche. The experiences of the year ask to be understood, and the things we've been too busy to acknowledge have a way of finding their way into our awareness. The descent is an opportunity to return to that still point within ourselves, where the noise of the outer world falls away and we can reconnect with the deeper intelligence from which life unfolds.

It's also a season for nourishment in a very literal sense. The work of integrating our experiences isn't separate from our physical bodies. Our nervous systems depend on the nutrients we give them, including the amino acids that help build the chemistry through which we think and feel. Rest and good food give us the foundation to process what we've lived through and carry its wisdom into the next cycle.

And if you're looking for a little soul nourishment today, we've got you covered. 🍂

Our shelves are full of Classic Sourdough today, along with Cranberry Spice Sourdough. We've also got Roasted Red Pepper Mozzarella Sourdough and Garlic Mozzarella Sourdough.

More Beef Goulash Soup and Sausage & Cabbage Soup are being prepared now, and we have a lovely selection of sweet treats too. Everything is made with real whole-food ingredients, sourced as close to the earth as we can manage. Nothing artificial or ultra-processed.

Our apothecary is coming along quite nicely too, and we've been building up our selection of foraging goods now that the season is upon us. Our hope for DuneSide has always been to create a place rooted in reverence for the natural world and we feel like it's doing just that today. We'll be here from 9-4 and would love to see you! 🫶🏼✨️

As October settles in here on the coast we've been thinking a lot about food traditions that have traveled generations to reach us. A recipe can carry a kind of ancestral memory, preserving knowledge long after the people who first prepared it have passed. Every time we return to those practices, we keep that memory alive in the present.

When we chose the name DuneSide Trading Co., our vision was to create a place rooted in earth & hearth. We believe that the epistemic commons is shaped by what we choose to invest our attention and belief in. Belief carries an energy that grows stronger through intention and repetition. Eventually, what we continue to hold in that field begins to take form in the material world. Traditions are one way we anchor that energy across generations. The old ways survive because people continue to believe they're worth carrying forward.

We're keeping a little of that Oktoberfest tradition alive today! Our German Beef Goulash Soup is already out, and around noon we'll have more fresh sourdough pretzels with b**r cheese and Sausage & Cabbage Soup.

Our Black Forest Cherry Chocolate Brioche Rolls and Cranberry Bog Rolls are also available today. We have German Chocolate Snack Cake with house-made filling and Cranberry Bavarian Cream Scones too. Our Vollkorn Rye Sourdough and Barley Multigrain Sourdough are on the shelves, along with plenty of cranberry goodness around the shop.

The hearth has always been a place where the unseen becomes tangible. Where the things we choose to preserve are given life again through our own hands. That's the spirit we hope to keep alive here at DuneSide. We'll be here until 4pm and would love to see you. 🍂🖤✨️

Our Black Forest Cherry Chocolate Bioche Roll is out, along with plenty of our Cranberry Bog Rolls! We also have German Chocolate Snack Cake with house-made filling, Cranberry Bavarian Cream Scones, Vollkorn Rye Sourdough, and a Barley Multigrain Sourdough on the shelves. There's still lots of cranberry goodness around the shop too!

We're still working on a few things in the kitchen, and in the next couple of hours we'll have Sausage & Cabbage Soup, German Beef Goulash, and fresh sourdough pretzels coming out. So if an Oktoberfest dinner sounds good tonight and you'd rather not do all the cooking, we can certainly help with that. 🍂🖤

Cranberry season is still very much happening around here, so we brought back a few of the things people have been asking for most. We have more Turkey Chili with Cranberry Jalapeno Cornbread and Cranberry Biscuits with Sausage Gravy today. There’s also Cranberry Banana Bread if you want something a little sweeter.

We’re also bringing out some of the Oktoberfest deliciousness for the weekend. We have German Chocolate Snack Cake and Cranberry Bavarian Cream Scones today. Vollkorn Rye Sourdough is out too along with lots of Classic Sourdough and Potato Burger Buns.

The cookie shelves are full and there are all kinds of fun things in the apothecary right now too.

Tomorrow we’ll have German soups and our Black Forest version of the Cranberry Bog Roll 👀. There are lots of other things still working their way out of the kitchen too, so keep an eye on the page this weekend. 🍂🖤

We made another round of all the Cranberry Harvest favorites yesterday so the shop is stocked again today. We have Turkey Chili with Cranberry Jalapeno Cornbread plus fresh Cranberry Biscuits and gravy to go. Apple C***r Donuts are packed up too with lots of cookies and plenty of Classic Sourdough.

We’d love some help making room because this weekend we’re doing an Oktoberfest theme and looking a little further back into the old food traditions of Germany. A lot of those traditions came from people learning how to make the most of what would keep through the dark part of the year. Rye mattered because it could grow where other grains struggled & b**r and bread were both part of that same knowledge of grain and fermentation. The household hearth was where food was preserved and where a lot of seasonal custom took place.

The forests shaped that world too. Especially in places like the Black Forest where daily life was tied closely to weather and woodlands. Old stories from the region are full of spirits and omens because people spent generations paying attention to what the natural world was doing around them. That’s the part we’re having fun with this weekend. We’ll have lots of rye and b**r breads plus some German sweets that feel like they belong to an older age.

For today the cranberry menu is fresh and ready to go. Come stock up and help us make a little room before we start baking for the weekend. 🇩🇪🍻✨️
