🌿 We are rooted in stories that began long before us.
Our families, ancestors, and communities leave their marks on us. In the ways we love, the traditions we keep, the expectations we carry, and sometimes even the things we struggle to understand about ourselves.
Some of what we inherit gives us strength. Some of it asks us to grow in new directions.
As I study family systems and explore the stories that connect generations, I keep returning to this beautiful truth: We can honor where we come from without repeating everything that came before us.
Think of an old tree. Its roots reach deep into the earth, nourished by seasons we never witnessed. Its branches stretch toward possibilities that did not exist when the first roots took hold.
We are much the same.
We belong to something larger than ourselves, yet we still have a say in how we grow.
And perhaps that is one of the most beautiful parts of understanding our history. We can carry forward the love, wisdom, and resilience while making room for something new.
🍂 What is one thing you inherited from your family, ancestors, or community that you hope to pass along?
