October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. For me, this work is personal. 💜
In 2009, my sister’s life was taken by domestic violence. She was a person with a future, a family, and people who loved her. Her life mattered, and her memory is part of the why behind Midwest Sister Circle Inc.
As a sister, nurse, and advocate, I carry that why into the work we do—educating women, creating space for honest conversations, and building a community where women feel heard, supported, and connected to resources.
Our commitment to women includes their safety, their mental health, and their right to relationships free from fear and control. It also means listening without judgment and supporting women without making them prove they deserve help.
We cannot change what happened to my sister. We can honor her through how we show up for others.
To every woman experiencing abuse: you deserve safety, dignity, and support. You do not have to earn any of them.
Her life mattered. Her memory fuels our why.
Healing. Power. Sisterhood. 💜
