✨This Week at Myriad Yoga✨
Bija is the seed of our inner potential and power. The slower seasons such as Autumn and Winter are a time to prepare for and plant seeds.
We usually think of planting seeds in the Spring, however Autumn can be a wonderful time to begin to sow seeds for those plants that need to overwinter and experience the cold. Like those plants, there are some seeds of potential within us that need a longer dormancy to fully form strong and potent roots.
Bija translates as seed, but metaphorically in Yoga, Bija is the seed of our infinite potential and powerful possibility. Each time we recognize the potential within us and begin to reflect, consider and grow upon that realization, we plant seeds within us. Yoga is a constant practice of turning in and self-reflecting. This is the time to begin to sow our seeds, to consider what may be ahead of us in the upcoming year and in what direction we want to adjust our focus.
Just as in nature, not all seeds are potent. Not every seed flourishes. The seeds of Autumn are but small inclinations towards our bigger dreams. We sit with these notions throughout the winter, nourishing and feeding them. What has lasting power will hold through, and what doesn’t we will let go.
What seeds are you planting for the year ahead? How will your actions now prepare you to nourish these dreams?
