Could Mold Toxins Be The Cause of Your Pain?

Mycotoxin Detection in Similar Conditions: A study published in the National Institutes of Health (PMC) found that 93% of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)—a condition with symptoms closely mirroring fibromyalgia—tested positive for urinary mycotoxins (such as Ochratoxin A and macrocyclic trichothecenes) after living or working in water-damaged buildings.

• Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS): Research points out that roughly 24% of the population carries genetic variations (such as HLA-DR genes) that hinder the body's ability to clear mold-produced mycotoxins. This triggers a persistent, systemic inflammatory response that mimics fibromyalgia symptoms (widespread pain, severe fatigue, cognitive fog, and joint aches).

A seed-sized implant may one day quiet nerve pain without surgery

Picture a device about nine millimeters long, small enough to slide through a standard needle, that can calm overactive nerves from the inside. Researchers at NYU Abu Dhabi and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi built one and named it SEED. The work, published in Science Advances, is still at an early stage.

SEED has no battery and no wires. It receives power wirelessly from a transmitter outside the body. Doctors can locate it with ordinary ultrasound or CT imaging and place it near a target nerve. Once active, it delivers gentle, programmable electrical pulses that adjust how the nerve sends signals.

Traditional spinal stimulators require complex surgery and can carry risks such as hardware infection. Oral painkillers can cause serious side effects and addiction risks. SEED points toward a different path: a minimally invasive option that can be adjusted over time.

The science is still early. So far, SEED has been tested in laboratory settings, including on peripheral nerves in anesthetized rats. It has not yet been proven safe or effective for people with chronic pain, and many steps remain before patients could benefit.

Imagine a future where relief is gentler, adjustable in real time, and far less invasive. Each experiment brings science closer to giving people more control over their own bodies. What would it mean to have a gentler option for the people you care about?
