Today is National Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

When breast cancer spreads beyond the breast to other parts of the body, it becomes significantly harder to treat. Which is exactly why early detection matters so much. Regular screening gives us the best chance to catch breast cancer before it has the opportunity to metastasize, when treatment options are strongest and outcomes are best.

There are two types of primary liver cancer in adults — hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common type of adult primary liver cancer.

Liver cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and research shows that at least 60% of cases are preventable by managing risk factors like viral hepatitis, alcohol use, and metabolic health.

For patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, there's encouraging research on treatment options beyond the standard approach: a clinical study combining hyperthermia with radiation therapy found a 43.5% overall response rate, with 69.6% response specifically in the treated area. Hyperthermia works by making cancer cells more responsive to treatment — helping your body respond more effectively.
