On World Food Day, we recognize the importance of access to safe, nutritious food as a foundation for health and well-being. Established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, this day calls attention to global hunger, food systems, and the need for equitable access to nutrition.

Today, more than 700 million people worldwide experience food insecurity. In the United States, millions of individuals and families still face challenges in accessing consistent, healthy meals. Food insecurity is closely linked to higher rates of chronic illness, depression, and delayed healthcare, especially in communities already facing systemic barriers.

For LGBTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV, food access can directly impact health outcomes. Proper nutrition supports immune health, improves medication effectiveness, and strengthens overall well-being.

Advocates like José Andrés have shown how food relief efforts can provide both nourishment and dignity, especially in times of crisis.

Signs of food insecurity may include
• Skipping meals or reducing portion sizes
• Worrying about running out of food before having money to buy more
• Limited access to fresh fruits, vegetables, or balanced meals
• Choosing between food and other basic needs like medication or housing

Why nutrition matters for health
• Supports immune function and energy levels
• Helps manage chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease
• Improves mental health and concentration
• Strengthens overall treatment outcomes, including for people living with HIV

As a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike, we support whole-person health through:
• Linkage to food and nutrition resources
• Medical care that integrates nutrition into treatment planning
• HIV care that supports medication adherence and wellness
• Behavioral health services addressing stress and food insecurity
• Community support and case management services

Everyone deserves access to healthy food and the opportunity to thrive.

On Spirit Day, communities across the country wear purple to stand against bullying and show support for LGBTQ+ youth.

Started in 2010 by Brittany McMillan, this day has grown into a national movement that raises awareness about the impact of bullying and the importance of creating safe, supportive spaces. LGBTQ+ youth are more likely to experience bullying and harassment, which can increase the risk of anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation.

Advocates and organizations like GLAAD have helped amplify Spirit Day, encouraging people everywhere to take a visible stand for kindness and inclusion.

Know the signs someone may be struggling
• Withdrawal from friends, school, or activities
• Changes in mood, including sadness or irritability
• Declining performance or loss of interest
• Increased anxiety or fear of social situations
• Expressions of hopelessness

Recognizing these signs early can help connect someone to the care and support they need.

How you can show support
• Wear purple to show solidarity
• Check in with youth and listen without judgment
• Encourage open conversations about mental health
• Speak up and promote kindness in your community

At Radiant Health Centers, we serve everyone in our community, with a special focus on LGBTQ+ individuals and those living with HIV in Orange County. As a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike, we provide:
• Behavioral health services for youth and families
• Safe spaces and supportive programs that foster belonging
• Medical care that supports both physical and emotional well-being
• Resources that help individuals navigate challenges with confidence

On Unity Day, we come together to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion in our schools, workplaces, and communities. Wearing orange on this day symbolizes a shared commitment to standing against bullying and supporting one another.

Unity Day is part of National Bullying Prevention Month, an initiative led by organizations like PACER Center. The goal is simple but powerful: to ensure that every young person feels safe, valued, and included.

Bullying continues to affect millions of youth each year and is strongly linked to anxiety, depression, and long-term impacts on mental health. LGBTQ+ youth are disproportionately affected, making visible support and affirming environments especially important.

Why unity matters for health and well-being

When people feel accepted, they are more likely to thrive emotionally and physically. Supportive environments can improve school engagement, reduce stress, and increase the likelihood that individuals seek help when needed.

Signs someone may be struggling with bullying or exclusion
• Withdrawal from friends or activities
• Changes in mood or behavior
• Unexplained physical complaints like headaches or stomachaches
• Avoidance of school or social spaces
• Lower self-esteem or increased anxiety

Ways to show unity
• Wear orange to show support
• Speak up when you see unkind behavior
• Check in with those who may feel isolated
• Practice inclusion in everyday interactions
• Encourage open, respectful conversations

At Radiant Health Centers, we serve everyone in our community, with a special focus on LGBTQ+ individuals and those living with HIV in Orange County. As a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike, we provide:
• Behavioral health services for youth, adults, and families
• Inclusive medical care that supports whole-person health
• Safe, affirming spaces where every identity is respected
• Community programs that build connection and resilience

Choose kindness. Be present. Stand in unity with those who need support.

Together, we can build safer, more compassionate communities for everyone.

Honoring Our Roots. Celebrating Our Stories. Embracing Our Heritage.

As National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) comes to a close, we celebrate the traditions, stories, and cultural connections that make our communities stronger. Today, we're proud to spotlight Rodrigo Cohen, Service Coordinator at Radiant Health Centers, whose story reminds us that while this month may be ending, the pride we carry in our heritage lasts a lifetime.

Born in Mexico City, Rodrigo fondly remembers celebrating Día de los Reyes Magos (Three Kings Day) every January 6. From gathering around the table to share Rosca de Reyes to the laughter and excitement of discovering the baby Jesus hidden inside the bread, these cherished moments created memories that continue to connect him to his heritage.

“While I consider the United States my home, Mexico will always be my motherland and an important part of who I am,” said Rodrigo Cohen

For Rodrigo, family is at the heart of Hispanic culture, a source of belonging, strength, and connection that transcends generations.

His story is also a reminder that our differences are something to embrace. Every culture, every tradition, and every personal experience adds richness to the communities we share.

💙 At Radiant Health Centers, we celebrate the diverse backgrounds and lived experiences of our team members. Their unique perspectives strengthen our commitment to providing compassionate, inclusive care for all.

✨ Hispanic Heritage Month may be coming to an end, but the stories, traditions, and contributions we celebrate continue to inspire us every day.

Join us in celebrating Rodrigo, the richness of Hispanic heritage, and the beautiful traditions that connect generations!

This Ally Week is a time to recognize the power of everyday allyship and how small, thoughtful actions can help build safer, more welcoming communities.

Founded by GLSEN, Ally Week highlights the role peers, families, educators, and community members play in creating environments where everyone feels respected and supported. Research shows that when people feel accepted, they are more likely to thrive, with improved mental health, stronger connections, and better engagement in school, work, and healthcare.

For LGBTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV, having supportive allies can reduce isolation and encourage earlier access to care. A welcoming environment helps people feel comfortable asking questions, seeking services, and prioritizing their well-being.

Public figures like Anne Hathaway have spoken about the importance of listening, learning, and showing up with compassion. Allyship is not about perfection. It is about being present and committed to respect.

What allyship can look like
• Listening with empathy and without judgment
• Using respectful language and honoring identities
• Learning about experiences different from your own
• Offering support and encouragement
• Connecting others to trusted resources

Why it matters for health

Supportive environments are linked to lower rates of anxiety and depression and higher rates of preventive care. Feeling seen and respected can make a meaningful difference in both mental and physical health outcomes.

At Radiant Health Centers, we serve everyone in our community, with a special focus on LGBTQ+ individuals and those living with HIV in Orange County. As a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike, we provide:
• Inclusive, patient-centered medical care
• HIV testing, prevention, and treatment
• Behavioral health services
• Case management and community support programs

Take action this week.

Lead with kindness. Stay open to learning. Be someone others can count on.

Together, we can create a healthier, more connected community for all.
