In observance of National Stop Bullying Day, it's more important than ever to recognize the signs of bullying, realize that bullying is more common that we know, and share in the responsibility to prevent bullying.

Bullying can impact mental health, fuel isolation and affect how people cope with life’s challenges. Whether related to mental health or addiction, judgment can deepen the struggle, while compassion can open the door to support and recovery.

Let’s create a culture of compassion where addiction and mental health are met with understanding, not judgment.

Choose kindness. Stop bullying. Break the stigma.

Tour Tuesday: Nourish and Gather

Recovery is about more than healing — it’s about finding connection, belonging, and the strength to move forward.

This week, we’re highlighting NYMC’s dining and shared gathering spaces, where staff and residents come together over meals, build relationships, and share meaningful moments.

Because healing grows where people feel welcomed, supported, and reminded that they’re never alone. 💜

Whether it’s the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres on a shared game day or organizations working together to strengthen a shared community, teamwork makes a difference!

Recently, leadership from NY Medical Center met with leadership from the Seneca Nation of Indians' Opioid Response Department ( Seneca Nation Human Services Division ) and Seneca Strong to discuss services, programming and opportunities to work together.

Substance use disorder affects individuals and families across all cultures and communities. By building respectful, collaborative partnerships, we can strengthen connections, better understand community needs and work together to support recovery.

Different communities. Shared commitment. Stronger together.

Together, let’s build a community where everyone feels they belong. 💜

💜It's time to Meet More of the People Behind the Mission!

Recovery is made possible by people who show up every day with compassion, commitment and purpose. From our support staff and Plant Operations team to our SUD providers and counselors, each person plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming environment where healing and recovery can begin.

We’re proud to introduce the people who make the mission possible at New York Medical Center.

💜October is about awareness, understanding and taking care of ourselves and one another.

Throughout this month, we recognize:
• ADHD Awareness Month
• National Bullying Prevention Month
• LGBTQ+ History Month
• National Depression Education and Awareness Month
• National Health Screening Month

Awareness creates understanding. Understanding can create connection, compassion and change.

Let's make the rest of October a month of learning, listening and looking out for one another. 💜

Week 3 of Tour Tuesday: Room to Connect 💜

Recovery needs more than a place to sleep. It needs spaces where people can pause, connect, feel comfortable and simply be themselves.

This week, we’re exploring the shared spaces throughout our residential treatment program — including our large gathering room for reading, relaxing and spending time together. With a piano, games, puzzles and books, the common area offers opportunities to enjoy familiar activities, discover something new or simply connect with others. Our dedicated group room provides a comfortable space for conversation, support and shared experiences.

These spaces are designed to encourage connection, comfort and community — creating moments of normalcy and belonging along the recovery journey.

Because recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. There’s room here to connect.
