We LOVE hearing from our patients! Dr. Chelsea began Fit For You Pelvic Rehab after struggling with her own women’s health issues during/after her pregnancy with twins and being unable to find the care she needed. Her goal in every appointment is to create a custom plan of care to help women get back to doing the things they love.
Just a few of the many things we were able to help women with this month! We are so grateful to help women get back to their best selves.
Are you experiencing any pelvic floor issues? Give us a call today to set up an evaluation!
In general, yes! Exercise can be really important for both mom and baby
But....it's really important to do it safely!
This is why you need to be working with a pelvic PT through pregnancy.
We'll make sure you have a foundation for exercise and guide what is helpful and what is too much for your changing body!
Every woman is different; there's no one-size-fits-all solution! We want to make sure you have a comfortable and healthy pregnancy, a smooth delivery and full post-partum recovery!
Your pelvic PT can be - and we believe should be - a presence throughout your pregnancy and into post-partum recovery!

The office will be closed 12/22/23-1/1/24. We hope you all have a safe and merry holiday 🤍
It's ridiculous we even have to make this post *deep breath*.
It's never "all in your head."
You shouldn't feel dismissed.
Shuffled off to another provider.
There's always a mental aspect of pain. In fact, "pain is made in the brain."
Whether you stubbed your toe or have chronic pelvic pain, your brain is involved.
But to dismiss patients because nothing shows up on a scan or they can't find a diagnosis is ridiculous.
We need to be looking at the whole person. That includes the brain and central nervous system. That also includes the muscles and nerves.
Far too many people needlessly suffer with pelvic health issues. They can be painful, embarrassing and life-altering.
We work with you to "find the why" of what is going on for true, lasting relief.
Send us a message to schedule your evaluation!
Treatment is different for each person, and noticeable change can depend on how long you've been dealing with your issues and how severe they are.
But you should be seeing a difference and realizing you're on the right track in just 3-5 visits.
We're doing three things in physical therapy...
1: Alleviating Symptoms - working to get you feeling better
2: Finding the Why - understand the underlying cause
3: Building Resiliency - building solid foundations in your body for true, lasting relief.
For some patients this is a couple months. For others it might take longer.
But your pelvic PT should be communicating this with you, listening to you, and be with you every step of the way!

At any stage of life you don't have to live with urinary incontinence!
It's never 'normal' to have leakage.
Not with exercise.
Not when you sneeze.
Not after a baby.
Not during menopause.
Resolving urinary incontinence is about much more than Kegels.
We need to "find the why" of what is going on and help you find lasting relief.

In a word? No!!
We can't treat pain with more pain.
Pelvic PT can be uncomfortable at times in certain areas. After all, if everything was already perfect you wouldn't need PT!
But it shouldn't be causing pain.
You shouldn't be flaring after every visit.
You don't have to get worse before you get better.
If something is making your symptoms worse you shouldn't keep doing it!

Is biofeedback all you've gotten in pelvic rehab?
Biofeedback is a specific technique some therapists use with patients to monitor the voluntary contraction and relaxation of the pelvic floor.
But it shouldn't be all you're doing in physical therapy!
There are major limitations to biofeedback.
👉 It only works on the voluntary system
👉 It doesn't "find the why" of issues
👉 It often leads to neglecting the external issues contributing to pelvic health.
It's not a bad tool - but we need to be asking if it's the best use of time!
If you're only doing biofeedback in your sessions and aren't seeing the improvement you're looking for, you can always talk about it with your PT or look for a second opinion!

Generally the answer is 'no'! In most states (including Michigan) you can go directly to a pelvic PT for help.
Some physicians are fantastic about recognizing pelvic health issues and referring to a pelvic PT.
Others may not understand pelvic health or routinely refer out - you might have to find a pelvic PT for yourself!
And if your physician does refer you to pelvic PT, make sure to ask them "if I was a family member, where would you recommend I go?"
Especially if you're considering invasive medical procedures or surgery, it's great to get a more conservative opinion from a pelvic PT to evaluate your options!

There is much left to be desired in regard to the care available to women after birth. We have 10-15+ prenatal visits, but only 1 (or 2 if we are lucky) postpartum check up. And not until 6-8 weeks!? There are so many new things and so many changes in the first few weeks postpartum
--->moms deserve support during this time too!
Another great opportunity for Jackson area mommas!
Here’s a peek into the new office! Better late than never 🙂
Continuing on our path of helping as many women as possible...we are hiring another therapist! Dr. Chelsea is looking for a pelvic health PT or OT who has a passion for women's health, pregnancy and postpartum to join her.
To apply, email your resume and cover letter to [email protected].

Did you know that your pelvic floor counts as part of your “core”? 🤷🏻♀️
Dysfunction in the pelvic floor can be driving low back pain. 😱🤔
And, conversely, if you have low back pain along with pelvic floor symptoms, they are likely related!
So if you've had chronic low back pain (with or without pelvic floor symptoms), and it's not getting better with physical therapy, chiropractic, or other treatments, you may want to make an appointment with a pelvic floor physical therapist! Give us a call to see if pelvic floor therapy is right for you.
Time with your pelvic PT is so valuable!
Pelvic health issues are complex. They involve....
👉 The pelvic floor muscles
👉 External pelvic girdle
👉 The central nervous system
👉 Long-term habits
We strongly believe you deserve a full hour, one-on-one with your pelvic PT.
We can look both internally and externally.
Resolve symptoms and look for the "why".
Actually be able to listen to your entire story.
Make sure you understand the upcoming plan.
Give you work to do at home to build on our gains between sessions.
At Fit For You that time is hands-on.
No aides or assistants..
No watching you exercise for hours.
No laying you down with ice or heat when you can do that at home.
Send us a message for more information or to set up an evaluation!
While your body does go through a lot of changes during pregnancy, pain and discomfort is not inevitable.
That’s why we get so upset when we hear our patients say their doctor just told them to “ride it out” or only referring out for help in the 3rd trimester.
We can help sciatica, p***c bone pain, SI joint pain, mid/low back pain, carpal tunnel and more DURING pregnancy.
Working with a pelvic PT can ensure your pregnancy is as comfortable as possible.
We can also help prepare you for delivery and get you set for post-natal recovery.

Anyone gotten sick and suddenly started experiencing more pelvic health issues? 🙋♀️🤧🤧
It's not a coincidence!
Increased pelvic floor symptoms such as leakage, pain, or difficulty starting/maintaining a urine stream are common when you're sick.
You are not alone!
Your body and pelvic floor need enough resiliency to handle new challenges - like a cold! 🤧
Anyone else noticed this?! Or had their pelvic health symptoms first come on after an illness?
We need to get to the heart of your issues so that you don’t have to worry about your pelvic floor flaring up with every cold. Call us to schedule an evaluation today.
Do you feel this way?
One of our biggest goals is to give you the understanding and tools to help yourself.
Understanding the "why" is so important to true, lasting relief.
Far too many people with pelvic health issues are just given band-aid solutions. Or told to stop doing things they love.
We want to make sure you feel in control of your health. You'll know what can help your symptoms. Give us a call today to schedule an evaluation
Pelvic PT can help women with so many issues they face before AND after pregnancy! Are you struggling with any of these issues too? Give us a call to schedule an evaluation!
Quick answer? 👆 Yes!! 🙌🙌
Women are made to feel it's normal to have debilitating cramps. To dread 'that time of the month.'
That they just have to live with their menstrual symptoms.
You 👏 don't 👏 have 👏 to 👏 just 👏 live 👏 with 👏 it!
Period pain that keeps you from performing daily activities or causes you to miss work or social events is not normal. Not for you or your teenage daughters!
Talk with a pelvic PT about your symptoms.
We don't have to suffer in silence anymore! Give us a call to set up an evaluation
