Wow. Wow wow wow. There is nothing better than getting to see work you but your whole heart into fully healed and perfect. Melanie and I did this piece back in 2021 when I was in Indianapolis, and to date, it’s still one of the most challenging designs I’ve been asked to come up with.

This image is a representation of the q***r icon Saint Sebastian, translated into a fem form. The Roman martyr and plague saint became a figure of identification and protest. Oscar Wilde described “a lovely brown boy, with crisp, clustering hair and red lips, bound by his evil enemies to a tree, and, though pierced by arrows, raising his eyes with divine, impassioned gaze towards the Eternal Beauty of the opening heavens.”

Thank you Mel for such an exciting project and for taking such great care of it! Moisturizers all the way!

Four sessions later and we finally completed Steve’s sleeve (his first tattoo)! The first images are healed a year to a few months, with the back being fresh. Thank you for the hours of giggles and York Peppermint Patties ❤️ happy to be finished but sad to be done!

Sat down yesterday, unable to remember the last time I tried a self portrait or to draw from life. I found this Caboodle (fulfilling some teenage dreams) at a Goodwill last month, which turned out to be the perfect setup for a little late night staring contest.

Had a little foot surgery back in January- just been in the woods and making paintings and wriggling around this strange plane with John and Mulder and Splash Pad. 👋

Had a lovely visit with Magnolia this week! She came with beautifully healed St John’s Wort we did a few years ago and received a fresh Dutch Tulip to adorn her hip. Thank you for traveling so far (again) (all the way from MD!) and for such a sweet afternoon.
