✨S C H A F E R✨ this first born baby made his mama work hard, starting his grand entrance just shy of 42 weeks. After many weeks had come and gone, mama went into labor and called our team around midnight. Supported by her husband and sister, she moved positions intuitively to work baby down. From the tub, to toilet, to bed, and more—all with so much love and determination! With some guidance and some more movement, baby slowly started to descend. Once baby finally was crowning (in our favorite spot- the dilation station! AKA the toilet), the whole room stood in awe of this brave mama and her hard work. Baby finally was laid in mama’s loving arms and this family was bursting at the seams with excitement - and so ready for a well deserved nap. This birth was truly a family affair and their family rallied around them even closer during the postpartum period.

Late post bc since this calm month of August has passed us, we have been in a baby storm! Blessed nonetheless to be doing this work. We had a heavy month of boys this August, with just one sweet little girl. Which funny enough she wasn’t our smallest baby this month. All 6 babies born different gestations, different sizes, all happy as healthy families 💙💗

✨D A V I D✨This birth was a journey of pure joy and fierce perseverance. After her waters spontaneously released, this incredible mama labored down with her team—determined, glowing, and beaming with gratitude every step of the way. She absolutely amazed us. At 10cm dilated, she still had the strength and mindset to take a walk around the neighborhood and get a chiropractic adjustment, completely locked into the hard work of labor.
When plans shifted, we pivoted to the wonderful support team at St. Vincent’s Southside. With their expertise and guidance, the decision was made to bring this sweet baby boy into the world via C-section. This journey had its share of speed bumps, but because of his parents’ deep trust and determination, they made the entire experience beautiful. Our team couldn’t be more proud of this new family! 🤍

This first time mom worked so hard through the whole labor with intense and consistent contractions starting right off the bat. After a two visits to the house in early labor, the third time was the charm. We were here to stay and make sure she had her whole birth team to support her. Progress was slow and steadily moving forward, trusting her body and her team every step of the way. She was surrounded by her loving husband, mom and doula in the pool as she relaxed into the pressure. It wasn’t long after that baby started to emerge in the water and baby boy was brought to mama’s chest. A hard earned victory for this family!

✨R A H N I✨ this first time mom spent months prepping her body, her mind and her heart for this journey. She chose her team carefully, was very intentional with her time and energy, and took prepping for this baby seriously. Which all paid off in the end. Once her due date had come and gone, mama had to trust her body and baby to choose baby’s birthday. When things started finally happening, these parents were over the moon and were ready for whatever labor had to offer them. After laboring down in the wee hours of the morning, her waters spontaneously broke and then brought on the pressure and progression. As mom was laboring down in the tub, her husband and doula loved on her gently as she did the hard work of labor. When the midwives came, our team checked Mom’s progress and she was 8 cm to which Mama happily rejoiced! It wasn’t long after that she started feeling the urge to push and we followed her intuition. Then with some help, we gently guided baby out as Mama pushed with a big smile on her face and then baby was here. The whole room teared up as we watched this family become three and soak in every bit of this sweet boy. Postpartum was filled with family, laughter, and snuggles. We couldn’t be more proud of this family. It’s been a beautiful journey to watch this family bring their son earthside. Your midwives love you Rahni ✨

The mailman delivering mail, the neighbor walking their dog, the community outside still turning. It seems like a normal day to anyone from the outside looking in. But with homebirth, you may never know that within those four walls a woman is expanding and softening, getting ready to welcome new life.

And in between the waves, the mom may share a giggle with her kids, might be walking through her garden, might have finished that load of laundry. We’ve seen it all. The magic never ceases to amaze us 🥹

✨ H O B I E ✨

This was a powerful HBAC! Since going well past her due date with her first baby, mama was starting to feel like maybe this would be her story again. But baby decided to give mama a little break and made his arrival a couple of days early. 🤍

At first, mama wasn’t quite sure if she was truly in labor, but her doula, Jessica, knew her body was doing exactly what it needed to do. The birth team made a plan to meet, and once everyone arrived, it became clear that labor was moving right along.

She got into the birth pool and soon began feeling the urge to push. What felt like forever to mama was really only a few powerful contractions to everyone else. Before long, baby’s head was making its debut—and just a short time later, mama was pushing her baby right into dad’s hands.

They looked down to discover another sweet boy had joined their family. 💙

And when mama needed a little extra support afterward, her husband stepped right in, helping her into the shower and giving her the full spa treatment she deserved after bringing their baby earthside.

Another beautiful VBAC, another reminder of just how much the body knows how to do. ✨

Each month, we create opportunities to connect with resources, learn something new, lean deeper into motherhood, and continue building community long after your birth.

For this gathering, we partnered with a local herbalist Sacred Madre Botanicals who brought a DIY herbal bar to our office. Our mamas got to choose from a variety of herbs, learn about their benefits, and create their own unique blend for the season of life they’re in. 🌿

We love partnering with local women and businesses to bring our mamas together and create community within our community.

Because we believe care doesn’t end when your birth does. Every season of motherhood is sacred and we love honouring that 🤍

We have a new student with our team, the wonderful Kadisha! Some of you may have met her already, some will meet her so soon. She has been a wonderful addition to our team and we can’t wait to see what she learns and how she grows from here. Here’s a short little introduction to her ✨

Kadisha was born at home just outside of Chicago. She was fascinated with birth, birth stories, and babies from the beginning. She was baptized into the birth world at her first home birth at 13 as a sibling doula. She read Spiritual Midwifery and still refers to it as her Birth Bible. She grew up surrounded by herbs ( Acupuncture Doctor mama) and also fascinated with contemporary health care (Western Medicine papa)
She studied Western Biomedical Sciences at a National University of Health Sciences. She then went on to study Thai bodywork and Thai Womb lifting and Traditional Pregnancy care in Northern Thailand. She is currently a licensed massage therapist practicing neuromuscular bodywork, and massage at the intersection of Chinese Tui Na and traditional Thai practices for the most effective treatments. She is a student at FSTM and although has been actively attending births for over a decade, still cries at every one.
