✈️ I’m traveling to speak at the World Obesity and Weight Management Congress in Boston and should have flown out last night, but I couldn’t miss celebrating my girl Melanie at the first of many birthday celebrations with her! She deserves all the love being poured into her!! An advocate for all, she is a true example of letting your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works AND glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
- MATTHEW 5:16✨Now as for the conference, what I’m most excited about is learning from global experts, exploring emerging research, and discovering innovative strategies I can bring back to my practice, my patients, and our community.

Because being a physician isn’t just about what we already know it’s about remaining curious, continuing to learn and turning knowledge into better care.

My mission remains the same: EDUCATE. ADVOCATE. EMPOWER. Whether we’re talking about menopause, obesity, or the many factors that shape women’s health, every woman deserves to be heard, respected, and supported at every stage of life.

Here’s to breaking stigma, advancing science, and making healthcare better for EVERYBODY. 💜 Celebrations first! 🥳 Cheers to more years! 🥂Menopause Matters! 🧐Praying for safe travels🙏🏽

Can one cup of blueberries a day support your vascular health?

A six-month randomized controlled trial involving 115 adults with metabolic syndrome found that the equivalent of one cup of blueberries daily improved two measures of vascular function: the ability of blood vessels to widen and a measure of arterial stiffness.

Interestingly, the half-cup group did not experience the same benefits. These findings are promising, although more research is needed to understand the broader health implications.

Acetic acid (the main compound in vinegar) temporarily slows down gastric emptying and blocks the enzymes that break down starches into glucose. This leads to a smoother, lower glucose response and helps prevent post-meal slumps.

Why it works:

✅ Blunts Glucose Spikes: Reduces post-meal blood sugar surges by up to 30%.
✅ Curbs Cravings: Helps you feel fuller longer by slowing down digestion.
✅ Sustains Energy: Prevents the dreaded afternoon brain fog and fatigue.

🎯 Your goal today: Dilute 1 tablespoon of apple c***r vinegar (or any kitchen vinegar) in a glass of water and drink it 10–15 minutes before lunch or dinner!

Did you know that Body Mass Index (BMI) was created nearly 200 years ago by a mathematician, not a physician?

BMI only measures your total weight relative to your height—it completely ignores what that weight is actually made of! It cannot differentiate between muscle mass, bone density, or body fat, nor does it show where fat is stored (which is what truly impacts your metabolic health).

Why focusing only on BMI can be misleading:

❌ Ignores Muscle Mass: Muscle weighs more by volume than fat, so fit, muscular individuals are often misclassified.

❌ Misses Metabolic Risk: You can have a "normal" BMI but still carry visceral fat around internal organs that increases health risks.

❌ Better Metrics Exist: Waist circumference, body composition scans, and metabolic blood markers give a far clearer picture of your overall health.

🎯 Your goal today: Stop letting a single math equation define your health journey! Focus on how you feel, your strength, your energy, and your metabolic lab markers instead.

Protein is the most metabolically active macronutrient you can consume. Anchoring each meal with a robust source of protein signals your brain that you are fully nourished, slowing down gastric emptying and preventing the sharp blood sugar spikes that lead to brain fog and energy crashes.

Your Daily Action Plan:

1. Target 30g per meal: Ensure breakfast, lunch, and dinner each have a solid protein foundation. ✅
2. Prioritize whole sources: Choose wild fish, pasture-raised poultry, eggs, tofu, or legumes. ✅
3. Eat it early: Start your meal with protein and fiber before reaching for refined carbs. ✅

When you prioritize protein, your body gets the essential amino acids it needs to repair tissue, manufacture enzymes, and keep your metabolic engine strong.

Why it’s powerful: Non-heme (plant-based) iron is notoriously difficult for the body to absorb on its own. Pairing it with vitamin C chemically transforms the iron into a form your gut can absorb up to three to four times more efficiently.
