💙 A Place Designed for Comfort, Care and Connection

The Lightways Hospice Inpatient Unit was thoughtfully designed to feel less like a hospital and more like a peaceful place to rest, connect, and be surrounded by the people who matter most.

Each private suite features natural light and French doors that open to the outdoors, creating a warm and calming environment for patients and their loved ones. Families are welcome at any time, with no age or visiting hour restrictions, so everyone can be together when it matters most.

Throughout the unit, families can find comfortable gathering spaces, a family dining room with snacks and easy meals, and quiet areas like our Solace Room for reflection and peaceful moments.

From cozy shared spaces to thoughtful in-room amenities, every detail is designed to help patients and families feel comfortable, supported, and at home.

💙 Understanding the Role of Chaplains at Lightways

Chaplains are an important part of the care provided at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, offering support that goes beyond medical care.

Our Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and families, meeting each person where they are. This may mean listening, offering comfort during difficult moments, helping someone explore questions of meaning and purpose, supporting personal beliefs and traditions, or simply being present when someone needs a compassionate person by their side.

Chaplains do not have to provide religious support. Their role is to honor each individual’s beliefs, values, and wishes while helping patients and families navigate the emotional and spiritual challenges that can come with serious illness and end of life.

Through their presence, compassion, and understanding, our Chaplains help create space for comfort, connection, and peace when it matters most.

🌎 October 10th is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.

This year, we are talking about something that touches every family, every community, and every corner of the world: pain management.

Pain relief is not optional. It is not a luxury. It is the most basic promise of care, and for too many people around the world, that promise is still broken.

Over 20 million people die every year in unnecessary pain. Not because we lack the medicines. Not because we lack the knowledge. But because systems, policies, and stigma continue to stand between patients and the relief they deserve.

For World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we stand together with patients, families, caregivers, health workers, advocates, and policymakers to say: enough.

Join us. Share your story. Raise your voice. And help us build a world where no one dies in preventable pain.

💙 Care That Goes Beyond the Physical

At Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, caring for patients and families means caring for the whole person. Our Chaplains are an important part of that care, offering spiritual and emotional support during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Chaplains spend time with patients and families where they are, whether that’s at home, in a nursing or assisted living facility, or at our 24 bed inpatient unit. They listen, provide comfort, support personal beliefs and values, and help patients and families navigate questions, emotions, and moments of uncertainty.

They also work closely with our interdisciplinary care team, as well as community clergy and spiritual counselors, to help ensure each patient’s individual spiritual needs are recognized and supported.

Their presence can provide comfort, connection, and a sense of peace when it is needed most.

We are grateful for the compassion, understanding, and meaningful presence our Chaplains bring to Lightways and to the patients and families we serve. 💙
