What if your struggle with consistency isn’t actually a lack of discipline?

I recently asked my community what happens to their movement routine when they’re mentally or physically drained.

67% said it’s the first thing to go.

And that got me thinking…

How many of us have developed an all-or-nothing relationship with exercise?

We think if we don’t have 30–60 minutes, the energy for an intense workout, or the motivation to push ourselves, there’s no point in doing anything.

But what if we started approaching movement differently?

Some days our bodies benefit from strength and activation.

Other days, gentle mobility, breathwork, or simply resting might be exactly what we need.

This is what I mean by Physical Hygiene.

Learning to care for your body consistently, not by forcing the same routine every day, but by developing awareness of what you need.

And that’s why I created Your Most Capable Self.

A guided movement experience designed to bring education, intention, structure, and consistency into your life.

🌱 Mobility + activation
🌱 Functional strength + stability
🌱 Recovery + breathwork
🌱 Weekly live coaching + community

The goal isn’t to become better at working out.

It’s to become more capable of living.

What if we stopped treating movement like another task to complete and started seeing it as a way to care for ourselves?

We understand the importance of brushing our teeth, showering, and nourishing our bodies consistently.

But when it comes to movement, so many of us wait until it’s time to work out, or until our bodies feel stiff, uncomfortable, or restricted.

That’s why I talk about Physical Hygiene.

A practice of intentionally caring for our bodies through movement, breath, mobility, strength, and recovery.

Not every day needs to be intense. Not every practice needs to be long.

Some days we need to activate and strengthen. Other days we need to slow down, explore our range of motion, and recover.

The deeper practice is learning to recognize what our bodies need and consistently giving them that attention.

That’s exactly why I created Your Most Capable Self.

A guided movement experience designed to bring education, intention, structure, and consistency into your life.

🌱 6 guided movement practices every month
🌱 Mobility, activation, functional strength, and recovery
🌱 Weekly live coaching and community support
🌱 Practices you can return to based on your body’s needs

The goal isn’t to become better at working out.

It’s to become more capable for the life you want to live.

This one means a lot more to me than just releasing a song. ☀️🎸

I chose “You Are My Sunshine” for my grandma.

When I was 12 years old, she bought me my first guitar. For my 6th grade graduation, she took me to get one of those Squier starter packs because she was one of the people who actually believed me when I said I was going to play guitar.

She knew I wasn’t full of s**t. 😂

She believed in me, bought me that guitar… and I never looked back.

But this song goes back even further than that.

My grandma used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to me when I was a baby. Years later, when I had kids of my own, I got to hear her sing the same song to them.

Now she’s passed on, and as I begin this new journey of creating my own catalog of music—music that inspires me and gives me a place to create, express, and put some heart and soul into the world—it only felt right that this was the first song.

So this one is for her. ❤️

A simple melody played on the instrument she helped put into my hands more than 20 years ago.

If it makes you feel something, let me know below. Share it with someone you love, use it in your own content, or head over to my YouTube channel and add the full version to a playlist.

Streaming platforms coming soon.

This is just the beginning. 🎸☀️

What if we’ve been looking at exercise the wrong way?

For most of my career in fitness, the focus has been on working out. Getting stronger, pushing harder, burning calories, building muscle, and improving performance.

And while there’s absolutely value in all of those things, I’ve come to realize there’s something much bigger that often gets overlooked.

How are we actually taking care of the body we live in every day?

We can exercise multiple times a week and still struggle with tight hips, stiff shoulders, limited mobility, poor balance, or a body that constantly feels tense.

And somewhere along the way, we’ve accepted that as normal.

But what if we changed our relationship with movement?

What if instead of viewing movement as something we HAVE to do to fix or change our bodies, we started viewing it as something we GET to do to care for them?

That’s where PHYSICAL HYGIENE comes in.

Just like brushing our teeth, showering, or taking care of our skin, intentional movement can become part of how we maintain our bodies.

5–10 minutes of mobility, activation, functional strength, stability, breathwork, or recovery.

Not every practice needs to leave us exhausted, sweaty, or sore to be valuable.

Sometimes we need to challenge ourselves. Sometimes we need to slow down, breathe, and reconnect.

The goal isn’t to become better at exercising. It’s to become more capable of living.

To play with our kids, explore, hike, surf, travel, get up off the ground, and continue doing the things we love for as long as possible.

This is the philosophy behind Your Most Capable Self, and it’s what I’m sharing through my free guided movement practices on YouTube.

If you’re curious about where to start, I’d love to help you find a practice that supports where your body is today.

Does movement create deeper thinking? 😂

Because apparently somewhere between lymphatic hops and talking about the lymphatic system, my brain decided it was time to contemplate the meaning of water.

I started thinking about how different stagnant water looks and feels compared to flowing water…

And then I thought about our bodies.

We’re largely made of water. Blood is circulating. Lymphatic fluid is moving. Our muscles are contracting. Our joints are moving.

And unlike our cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system doesn’t have one central pump like the heart movement, muscular contractions and breathing all help support lymph flow.

So my brain basically went:

“If movement helps create movement within us…why would we want to spend so much of our lives being still?” 😂

Is the human body a pond? No.

Did I get slightly distracted halfway through teaching a movement? Absolutely.

But I still think there’s something worth thinking about here.

Maybe movement isn’t only something we do to exercise our bodies.

Sometimes moving the body gives the mind somewhere to go too.

Anyway…welcome to my brain during a movement practice. 😂

What do you think does moving your body change the way you think?

There is a LOT happening in the world right now.

And while I believe it’s important to stay aware, we also need to recognize what constantly consuming chaos can do to our minds and bodies.

Stress is part of being human. But living constantly activated is different.

Chronic stress can affect our sleep, recovery, energy, mood and immune function. Sometimes we become so consumed by everything happening outside of us that we stop paying attention to what’s happening inside of us.

This is why I keep coming back to MENTAL + PHYSICAL HYGIENE.

We brush our teeth. We shower. We take care of our bodies.

But what are we consistently doing to take care of our mind, movement and nervous system?

It doesn’t need to be an hour-long workout.

Give yourself 5–10 intentional minutes.

Move your joints. Rotate. Squat. Reach. Walk outside. Build strength. Work on mobility. Put on music. Close your eyes and breathe.

Sometimes the practice is about building capacity.

Sometimes it’s about slowing down and recovering.

And it doesn’t have to be me.

Find someone who inspires you. Find movement you enjoy. Find a practice that helps you come back to yourself and make it part of your hygiene.

That’s what I’m building through my YouTube channel, where I’m sharing guided Physical Hygiene practices around mobility, activation, functional strength and recovery.

And if you want more structure and support, Your Most Capable Self takes this practice deeper.

We can’t control everything happening around us.

But we can be intentional about how we take care of ourselves through it. 🌱
