This Saturday we’re building our home health skills, learning about the digestive system and how to naturally support it.

Digestion is a foundation for so much of our overall health: nourishment, immunity, energy and mood, mental clarity, youthful skin and so much more!

We’ll spend the day exploring digestive health through a vitalist lens, learning to recognize common digestive patterns and working with practical, natural ways to support the body’s own processes. We’ll discuss how food, daily rhythms, and medicinal plants can all play a role.

What to expect:
- A deeper understanding of how digestive health supports overall vitality
- A holistic, vitalist perspective informed by herbalism and traditional healing systems
- Practical ways to support digestion through daily rhythms, food, lifestyle, and plant medicine
- Hands-on preparation of fire c***r and a customized 2 fl oz bottle of digestive bitters
- Tea, snacks, soup, a lesson handout, and all materials for our creations
- A nature walk focused on medicinal plants, especially fall-harvested roots
- An opportunity to ask questions and learn in a small, personal setting

Tuition: $99, including materials, tea, snacks, soup, handouts, and everything needed to make your fire c***r and digestive bitters.

🌿 Calling kindred folk…

I’m growing something called Folk School, a living learning community centered around the old and ever-relevant skills that help us become more capable and connected to place.

As I plan upcoming gatherings, I’m looking for:

🌲 LAND + GATHERING SPACES
Do you know of a beautiful wild or natural space where we could gather for a day of learning? Most of the time we’ll also need a kitchen and/or covered space to create in.

🔥 FOLK WITH SKILLS TO SHARE
I’d love to meet people who carry knowledge in things like foraging, hunting, wilderness skills, food preservation, fiber arts, woodworking, natural building, homesteading, crafts, cooking, land stewardship (all the practical skills that make us more self-reliant and connected to the places we call home).

📷 PHOTOGRAPHERS + VIDEOGRAPHERS
I’m looking for someone who would enjoy capturing the spirit of these gatherings and creating some beautiful imagery together, potentially through a trade or other creative exchange.

🌱 WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LEARN?
What skills have you always wished someone would teach you? What traditional, practical, creative, or land-based knowledge would you love to bring back into your life?

And who else should I know? If a person, place, skill, or idea comes to mind, please comment below or send me a message.

I’m interested in growing something with people, a community where knowledge is shared, skills are passed from hand to hand, and we remember that we are part of something much older and more alive than ourselves.

If this sounds like your kind of gathering, I’d love to hear from you.

Two beautiful sheepskins looking for their home

These sheepskins were tanned by a dear friend up the North Fork of the Flathead earlier this summer. He uses a traditional brain-tanning method, hand-working the hides and honoring the lives of the animals. The two sheepskins currently available are Churros from New Mexico and they are super plush and cozy! Please consider adding one of these to your space for long-lasting comfort and warmth, and support a local artisan in his craft.

Announcing FOLK SCHOOL
We begin in October. Find the link in the bio.

This vision started to wake within me in my early 20s, although it was likely there under the surface even longer.

As I imagined how I wanted to live my life, I saw myself on a homestead, connected to the rhythms of the seasons, growing food + herbs, caring for the life around me.

I knew I wanted to live in a way that was much less reliant on industrial systems + deeply connected to ecosystems + the local village.

I wanted to live a life of simplicity, rich with meaning.

I wanted to create lasting, generational wealth + to learn the human skills that would allow me to nourish myself + my family, passing on this wisdom to my children + grandchildren to ensure it’s not lost to the comforts + conveniences of modernity.

The last 15 years have been a journey of remembering these ways of living + being, reclaiming the knowledge that my grandparents + everyone before them had.

While I’m nowhere near an expert + still have so many things I want to learn, I recognize that I do have something to share with others + that’s enough to start.

For the past few years, I’ve lead plant walks + herbal/natural health workshops + retreats. And I’ve known that this was not the full scope of what I want to offer.

Now, I’ve decided it’s time to expand these offerings to include more skills to help us all remember how to live better with the earth + with each other, to rewild ourselves + reconnect with the natural ways we’ve lost touch with.

Medicine Hive Folk School is a space for us to come together + learn the ancestral skills that sustained humans prior to widespread industry. Wilderness skills, hunting, foraging, crafting, homesteading, natural medicine, celebrating with the seasons + so much more.

Check out the bio to join the waitlist + be notified when enrollment opens 🌿

I’m excited to share about Vitalist Foundations of Health & Wholeness, a weekly workshop series I’m teaching this month on Mondays in Bigfork at Samaa Retreat Center, with a Zoom option for those who can’t join in person!

This is one I’ve been working on for a while now and it basically lays out the foundation of my whole approach to natural healing. You can think of it as the “How to Be a Naturally Healthy Human” course that we all should have taken in our early years (that definitely would’ve made my health journey easier)!

My passion lies in bridging the natural healing ways of ancient vitalist traditions like Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Naturopathy, and Western Herbalism, with modern sciences like circadian/quantum biology, bioterrain medicine, and bioenergetics. This way of looking at health provides a much greater understanding of what it means to have true vitality and how vital energy is designed to flow when in sync with the signals and cycles of nature.

Modern approaches to health often focus on managing symptoms, correcting lab values, or fighting perceived enemies in the body—yet many people still feel depleted and disconnected. Vitalist Foundations of Health & Wholeness offers a radically different perspective: one that views health as an intelligent, self-organizing process rooted in our relationship with life itself.

This 4-part educational workshop series explores the vitalist view of health, drawing from traditional healing systems, terrain medicine, and ecological principles. You’ll learn why true healing doesn’t come from silencing the body or flooding it with supplements, but from restoring the conditions that allow vitality to flow. Each class invites you to move beyond reductionism and the complexities of today’s healthcare system, and reclaim health by focusing on the fundamental elements of lasting vitality.

Whether you’re dealing with hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, symptoms of aging, frequent illness, brain fog, chronic pain, or more, this series will teach you the foundational steps to start revitalizing your body, mind, and spirit.

Sign up for the whole series and save $20!

Small-batch, wildcrafted, & seasonal Elderberry Elixir is back in stock! 🍂

As we welcome the crisp air of fall and snow on the mountains, and bid farewell to the warm days of summer, I’m excited to pop back on here to share this update. I’ve just crafted my largest seasonal batch of elderberry elixir yet—over 6 gallons of this incredible immune-boosting tonic!

Packed with the benefits of elderberries and elder flowers, echinacea, and other supportive herbs, this elixir is perfect for keeping your family healthy as we transition into the colder months.

With the help of my friend Brooke, and the generosity of my dear friend Sylvia, we harvested many pounds of berries from the trees along the Jocko River in Arlee, hanging heavy with abundance. This was such a fun way to spend a September afternoon, and something I’ve enjoyed doing for several years now. So much gratitude to Sylvia, the land, and the medicine shared there 💗

I choose to work with fresh plants as much as possible in my medicine-making process in order to preserve as much of the intelligent, healing life force and living water from within them, and this elixir is no exception. I only make it with fresh berries, which means it’s a special seasonal medicine that comes around when we need it most!

Last year, this elixir sold out within weeks! This is not one to hesitate on—it may be gone again before you know it, not to be restocked until next year’s elderberries ripen. Head to www.medicinehive.org to stock up on this magical medicine ✨
