Dr. Chris Browning has run a full-service optometric practice for 20 years — heavy on vision therapy, myopia management, and long-term patient relationships. When his patients needed ophthalmic surgery, he referred them out.

Ophthalmic care can be an hour's drive away — and that trip often costs a patient an entire day. For older patients or anyone already anxious about the procedure, that drive isn't a minor inconvenience. It's a barrier to care.

Dr. Browning built a OBS suite in Greenwood, IN and will be sharing it with other ODs in the area — filling a gap in premium cataract and refractive care that his community didn't have before.

Dr. Aaron King of Timp Vision Clinic in Highland, Utah didn't wait. About seven years into practice, he decided he was done handing off his cataract patients, and he found a way to keep them.

Another great milestone! We recently completed our 500th surgery in our office-based surgery suite at Gerstein Eye Institute’s iOR.

This milestone represents more than 500 cases—it reflects what’s possible when innovation, independence, and exceptional patient care come together.

Office-based surgery gives us the opportunity to rethink the traditional surgical experience and create an environment designed around our patients. By thoughtfully integrating advanced technology, efficient systems, and a dedicated clinical team, we can deliver outstanding care while continuing to move ophthalmic surgery forward.
