DEAN UPDATE & HELP
Dean is still in the hospital. He moved out of PICU to a regular room & is on just a small amount of oxygen. He is scheduled for another shunt revision surgery early Monday morning at 7:00 AM. We need to be there extremely early to be by his side. The stress right now is overwhelming. Dean's health is our top priority, but the financial burden is becoming impossible. We are in urgent need of assistance for gas & a room for the night. If you are able to contribute, or if you can take a moment to share our donation links, we would be deeply grateful. Every share and every bit of help matters so much to us. Thank you, all.

Dean Update: Tuesday, 10/13
After getting discharged at the end of September Dean was not able to get over the rhinovirus, needing to be suctioned way more frequently and was still coughing. This last Friday night his coughing increased and by Saturday morning he was very congested with his oxygen dipping into the 70’s. He got admitted to Children’s Mercy PICU again for the same rhinovirus. He was first on the bipap but by Sunday night he moved from the bipap to nasal cannulas for oxygen. He’s now on 1 liter of oxygen. The PICU doctor performed a lumbar puncture on Saturday night to check Dean's CSF for infection. That came back yesterday with no infection markers. Last night and this morning his heart rate was low so they took him for a CT scan this afternoon. We are waiting to see what is going on, if anything. His sodium is also off, so that needs to be controlled. We will update you as soon as we know more. Please continue to pray for Dean and send good energy for him. Thank you!

Dean Update/Morning Meds Video: Saturday, 10/10
My friend, KB, suggested this might be a good video after she & my friend Candice watched me give Dean his meds one night a few weeks ago. These are the 14 meds plus water flush he gets each morning. He also gets 2 meds in the afternoon & 11 meds at night. Also, Dean is pretty sick. His rhinovirus has either gotten worse or he now has some other crud. He started running a fever last night, his cough has increased & so has his congestion. His oxygen is hovering in a range that may require us taking him back to Children's Mercy again. We are keeping an eye on this. We are still very much in need of help, support, prayers & good energy. Thank you, all. 🩵🩶

DEAN UPDATE: Sunday, 9/20
Dean was able to come home late last night. He is still congested. This morning, I have been battling with his temperature, trying to get it up to his normal range, which is 97.4 - 97.6. It was 95.6 when I first took it, then it increased to 97.1. It started falling again, so I am trying a blanket on his head too. Someday maybe we can get a home version of the hospital bear hugger. Anyway, I may make a video update later today. Please keep praying for Dean & sending him all the good energy. Our little fighter needs them. Thank you.

Quick Dean Update Today: Thursday 9/17
Dean is still on a little oxygen, currently 0.25 liters & he’s not coming home today. Now we hope for tomorrow or the weekend. The nurse said they thought briefly about releasing him yesterday but then he developed a little fever & they’re still trying to ween him off the oxygen.

DEAN UPDATE: Saturday, 9/12
I haven't made an update for a few days, everything has been stressful & exhausting. Dean was moved from PICU to a room in the Hensen tower. He is still on oxygen, but now via a nasal cannula, not a machine. His sodium was electric for a few days bit now that has leveled out. His shunt surgery that was supposed to happen yesterday will be rescheduled after he is out of the hospital. Dean is looking better. He is sleeping a lot, which is to be expected with all he has been through. Please keep the prayers & healing energy coming for him. He has been through so much & still fights so hard.
Any support means the world to us & we are grateful. Donating or sharing the information is all helpful. Thank you so much for everything.
