Your Liver Labs Are "Normal." Your Liver Might Not Be.
Our providers see this almost every week: normal liver enzymes do not always mean a healthy liver.

Fatty liver disease can be present even when ALT and AST come back in the normal range. Many people only find out by accident, on an ultrasound done for something else.

It's worth asking whether your liver has been checked beyond basic labs if you have:
- Extra weight around the middle
- Prediabetes or diabetes
- High triglycerides
- High blood pressure

The good news? Fatty liver is often reversible when it's caught early.

Is Colonoscopy Prep Really as Bad as People Say?

For many patients, the biggest worry about a colonoscopy isn’t the procedure itself, it’s the prep.

Questions like these are common:
- Will I be running to the bathroom all night?
- Will I be able to finish the prep?
- What if I feel nauseated?
- What if I’ve had a difficult prep before?

Colonoscopy prep is an important part of the process because your doctor needs a clear view of the colon to carefully look for polyps or other abnormalities.

The good news? Prep doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Your healthcare team can give you instructions to help you prepare safely and know what to expect before the procedure.

Don’t let fear of the prep keep you from an important screening.

What Does Your P**p Say About Your Gut Health?

Yes, gastroenterologists really do want to know about your p**p. Your bowel movements can give us useful clues about what’s happening in your digestive system.

We pay attention to things like:
• How often you go
• Stool consistency
• Whether you strain
• Urgency
• Diarrhea or constipation
• Blood or black stools
• Persistent changes from your normal pattern

There isn’t one “perfect” bowel movement schedule for everyone.

What matters is understanding what’s normal for you, and noticing when something changes.

If your bowel habits have changed and aren’t returning to normal, consider talking with a GI provider.

A Good Colonoscopy Starts With a Good Prep.
Nobody gets excited about colonoscopy prep.
But it has an important job.

A clean colon allows your gastroenterologist to get a better look at the lining of the colon and identify abnormalities or polyps that could otherwise be difficult to see.

If you’ve struggled with prep before because of constipation, nausea, medications, or difficulty finishing the solution, tell your care team before your next colonoscopy.

A difficult previous prep doesn’t mean you should avoid your next screening.

Due for a colonoscopy or have questions about preparing for one? Our team is here to help.
