πͺ₯October is Dental Hygiene Month!π¦·
I had the opportunity to read to a group students and talk about oral hygiene and what to expect when visiting the dentist! β€οΈ Iβve always loved that I can do this as part of my job!
But why is dental hygiene so important in the world of myofunctional therapy? π
As Dental Hygienists, we ...
β
Get a birdβs-eye view of the mouth and surrounding structures.
β
Have the opportunity to talk with patients about airway concerns, clenching, grinding, snoring, mouth breathing, and even neck and shoulder tension.
β
Have extensive education in head and neck anatomy that helps us understand how these structures work together.
π¦· Itβs one reason so many dental hygienists find their way into myofunctional therapy! π
Myo brings together professionals from different backgrounds, each with unique knowledge and expertise. Weβre fortunate to collaborate with a local speech-language pathologist who is also a myofunctional therapist and other hygienists who are myofunctional therapist in our area. Collaborating helps us look at the whole picture through each of our professional lenses and provide the care thatβs best for each patient! β€οΈ
And a shout-out to the amazing hygiene team at JCDDS! They do a wonderful job screening for airway concerns and helping patients find the right path to better health. Iβm so lucky to work alongside these beautiful, intelligent women! πͺπΌ
Different backgrounds. Shared knowledge. One goal: helping our patients thrive!
