📖 It’s Way Back Wednesday, and our 1913 copy of Vitalogy would like to speak to the manager of your outfit.
This week’s threat to humanity? The WAIST BELT.
The book calls it “the greatest destroyer of health, life and beauty in the civilized world.”
A belt. With a buckle. That holds your pants up.
It then claims waist belts and similar waist-compressing garments kill more people than alcohol and suggests getting the LAW involved.
Imagine calling the police:
“I’d like to report a suspicious woman.”
“What is she doing?”
“Accessorizing.”
Remember, this is the same book that suggested gin and horseradish for menstrual cramps. Apparently the gin is medicine, but the belt needs a parole officer.
Modern Apothecary: come for the pharmacy history, stay for the 1913 fashion police. 😂
Historical entertainment only. This book’s confidence continues to exceed its qualifications.
