We’re certified to provide services on the Ohio Shared living (OSL) waiver program. OSL is a option for someone with a developmental disability who is on a waiver through the Ohio department of Developmental Disabilities to get the support they need while living with a paid caregiver in their home that provides at least 20% of their care. This can be mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, or cousin Eddie.

• Caregivers make long-term commitments to helping with daily routines while getting paid.

• Ohio Shared Living caregivers are paid to provide hands-on care coordinate the services outlined in a person’s service plan. That can include things such as cooking meals, providing transportation, and planning community activities.

• Parents cannot be OSL caregivers for their minor children, and OSL caregivers cannot provide services for their spouse. Like all certified providers, OSL caregivers receive a background check and are carefully screened and go through training required by the Ohio board of Developmental Disabilities.

If you have any questions please feel free to PM us. This is a great option for times of uncertainty.

For any employees directly affected by the temporary closure of businesses and who would like to work in a very rewarding field, there are many Wood County Service Providers in the Developmental Disabilities field hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to work with people who have intellectual/developmental disabilities. These are jobs that cannot be suspended and will offer a steady paycheck along with a rewarding experience. On-boarding requirements have been loosened due the pandemic and shortage of workforce. Reduced requirements will still include background checks (BCI) and CPR/FA online. If you are a kind, caring, compassionate person, you could be hired! To learn more visit www.dspohio.org.

The safety and well-being of our individuals and employees have always been and will always be a top priority. In order to best ensure the health and safety of the population we serve effective March 18th our adult day service will suspend operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We anticipate this suspension continuing through atleast Friday April 3rd, 2020 if not further. The decision to close did not come lightly, but we wanted to be more proactive in learning of the state wide anticipated closures of adult day services sites by Ohio Associations of County Boards (OACB). This virus is infiltrating every aspect of our life’s, we believe if we do our part by social distancing we can all get back to our daily routines.

In light of the current health concerns we want to assure you that we’re being proactive to prevent the spread of illness. We’ve increased frequency of cleaning and wiping everything down with disinfectant, and we have hand sanitizer on tap.
We're suspending all community outing for the month of March as we closely monitor guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, and National Centers for Disease Control. If decisions need to be made, we will make them based upon the guidelines and recommendations of these organizations. The health, safety, and well-being of our individuals and staff remain our top priorities.

“Happy 2020”! I know we are a little late on posting for the new year but better late than never. We had a great year that that composed of a lot of people stepping out of their comfort zone and trying new things that lead to fortuitous events unfolding. As an adult day habilitation we tried focusing more on non-traditional service’s that enabled people to be more independent and try new things from AXE throwing, to riding/driving their own all terrain vehicles, and playing various arcade games for the first time in their lives. We visited different places from Columbus, Dayton, and around Toledo that in some way enriched each person’s lives. And we have a lot to thank for the business that help foster that inclusion and diversity to make all this happen. We would like to thank Regal theater in Lima, Kewpee Hamburger in Lima, Westgate Entertainment Lima, Hardin County YMCA, Table One restaurant Kenton, Hardin County Council on Ageing, Hillcrest Lanes Kenton, Not By choice Kenton, Taco Bell Kenton, Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, AXE 419, Reset bar/arcade Perrysburg, Scene 75 Vandalia, Dave and Busters Columbus, Awakening Minds Art Findlay, Heartstring Melodies Findlay, and of course Unlimited Boundaries West Liberty. As a community we overcome stigmas and fostered meaningful relationships, and cultivated a life of fulfillment for those that we support.

During the winter months when Rocky Grimes isn’t driving his karts he is in the classrooms working on STEM projects for Marysville schools. As you can see in the photos he designs, re-engineers, and customizes some toys to meet the needs of any disability.
He gave us a overview of the Karting program and how the karts can also be used as a teaching tool for drivers Ed for individuals with disabilities. Big thanks to Mayor for coming out and spending some time with us.
