Ladies, you may need more progesterone.

It is normally produced by the Corpus Luteum. This is the "egg shell" that is left when you ovulate each month. It produces progesterone to prepare your body to get pregnant.

Progesterone rises in the last half of your cycle (the luteal phase) until your body figures out you are not pregnant. Then, your progesterone falls and your period starts.

This can lead to mood changes.

When your progesterone drops, you do not have the benefit of its calming properties.

Progesterone acts as a calming hormone in your body. It converts to pregnenolone, which acts on GABA receptors. THESE ARE THE SAME RECEPTORS THAT XANAX ACTS ON.

Progesterone has been called "nature's xanax." I think xanax should be called "pharma progesterone." Except xanax is addictive. Progesterone is healthy.
