When it comes to breast health, knowing when to schedule a screening and what to expect can make all the difference. But what questions should you be asking about mammograms and breast ultrasounds?

At EMPOW’HER, members of the Stewart Memorial Radiology Team, Kendra Davis, Taylor Bruening and Jessica Freese, will lead an interactive roundtable discussion on Preventative Care and Screenings, with a focus on mammograms and breast ultrasounds.

You may have questions like:
• When should I start getting regular mammograms?
• How often should I schedule a mammogram?
• What should I expect during a mammogram?
• What is the difference between a mammogram and a breast ultrasound?
• When might a breast ultrasound be recommended?
• What happens if something unusual is found during a screening?
• Why is it important to keep up with regular breast cancer screenings?

This roundtable is an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer screening, understand what to expect during an exam and ask questions about mammograms and breast ultrasounds. The Stewart Memorial Radiology Team will help you better understand the screening process and the role regular screenings play in your breast health.

Come with your questions. You may find that someone else has the same one.

Join us for EMPOW’HER on Wednesday, October 28, from 5–7:30 PM at the Lake City Community Building. EMPOW’HER is FREE and open to women of all ages. You do not have to be a Stewart Memorial patient to attend. Registration is encouraged!

đź“… Medicare Open Enrollment is here!

From October 15 through December 7, you have the opportunity to review your Medicare coverage and make changes for the year ahead. Any changes you make during Open Enrollment take effect January 1.

During Open Enrollment, you can:
• Join or switch to a Medicare Advantage Plan
• Join or switch to a Part D prescription drug plan
• Switch between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare

As you compare your options, keep the Three C’s in mind:
Coverage, Cost and Convenience.

Consider which healthcare services, medications, providers and pharmacies are covered, as well as premiums, copays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs.
Remember, starting in 2025, your annual out-of-pocket costs for covered Part D prescriptions are capped at $2,000. Once you reach that limit, you pay $0 for covered Part D drugs for the rest of the year.

Even if you’re happy with your current plan, Open Enrollment is a good opportunity to take another look and make sure your coverage still fits your needs.
Need help reviewing your options? Cindy is here to help!

Breast health looks different for everyone, and having answers can bring peace of mind.

A breast ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of breast tissue. It may be recommended as a follow-up to a mammogram or to take a closer look at a specific area.

At Stewart Memorial Hospital and Clinics, our radiology team is here to help you understand what to expect and feel more comfortable throughout your appointment. Have questions about breast imaging or need to schedule an appointment? Call our radiology team at 712-464-4207 to learn more.
