So… I tried something new this weekend. On Friday my horoscope said to “find human intimacy in a different way.” And then a kind friend invited me to a here in . I had never heard of it however agreed, with the caveat that I would leave if I couldn’t hang. Friday night was and it BLEW MY MIND. I literally could see the whole thing in ASL. It’s a whole beautiful and transcendent experience. I went all weekend. This video is my very first attempt to co-lead with my beloved friend, Mitchell. He did the vocal leading and I tried my hand (pun intended) at doing the same in so… I did. I had never heard the song. The first 2 times for this song, “Gospel Trumpet” #99 in the newest songbook, we sang the notes, in all 4 parts. Hence the square. All singing together, but in a beautiful 4 part arrangement. After the notes, we sang the lyrics. I did this perfectly imperfect. And I will say this weekend was a my 4 bodies, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needed.
There aren’t enough words to describe it. But I find often that music doesn’t always need words.
The other valuable thing I learned this weekend is while I have been taught my , and needs to be contained, it was very very healing, to engage in a space where the whole community held my energy, didn’t judge it and flowed with it.
I think I’m gonna go back.
This is called . Check it out.
