The end of summer (and particularly August) is the end of a long stretch without services and consistency for many of our learners. It’s also a time of stress with many unknowns. New teachers and new therapists mean teaching them about who our kids are and how we can work together. It is exhausting and worthwhile. Change can be good. Here’s to a new school year starting in September.

Raw and real. Parenting a child who can’t easily say this is what hurts can be overwhelming. Some days we just hold on and love our kids the best we can. Hoping for healing and a pain free night. And that you know you are not alone in the struggle.

This is something that is so needed. As a BCBA and former crisis intervention trainer, I was equipped to handle my son’s intense behavior. No one else in our family was. I asked the developmental pediatrician what do other families do. Her response was “They just do the best they can”. That was heartbreaking! Kudos to Autism New Jersey for seeing the need and offering a solution. Learning how to keep your family safe, both you and your loved one who is struggling, is a game-changer for family stress and safety.

Wow! This is such an amazing offer! My little guy needs his adaptive medical stroller for longer distances. It takes up a ton of room in the car and I worry about the day we try to fly with it.
