💙🩷 November is Bereaved Siblings Month 🩷💙
When a child dies, a sibling loses more than a brother or sister. They lose a best friend, a playmate, a confidant, and a piece of the future they imagined together.
At The Mitten Pediatric Palliative & Hospice Foundation, we recognize that when a family experiences the unimaginable loss of a child, the grief extends to the littlest hearts, too.
Siblings are often the quiet grievers. They may not always have the words to express their sadness, but their love, their loss, and their memories deserve to be acknowledged.
They deserve space to cry, permission to laugh, opportunities to remember, and reassurance that their brother or sister will never be forgotten.
As we work toward building Michigan’s first dedicated pediatric hospice house, our vision goes beyond caring for the child. We believe in caring for the entire family, including the brothers and sisters whose lives are forever changed.
