Bangladesh’s ongoing measles outbreak has claimed four more children in the past 24 hours, taking the combined death toll from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms to 1,144.

According to the latest health ministry data, more than 2 lakh suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide since March 15, with over 22,000 laboratory-confirmed cases. The outbreak has also led to a large number of hospitalisations across the country.

Health authorities are continuing surveillance and treatment efforts as cases remain a major concern.

The Children’s Reading Alliance is excited to be part of the Southern New Mexico Book Festival on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Doña Ana Community College – East Mesa.

This is a free event and a wonderful opportunity for families throughout Southern New Mexico to come together and celebrate the joy of books, reading, and literacy.

Be sure to visit the Children’s Room, where the Children’s Reading Alliance will be leading engaging activities for children, distributing free books, and celebrating the authors and stories that help inspire a lifelong love of reading.
