I'm truly honored and humbled to be named the Nevada Dental Hygienists' Association 2026 Hygienist of the Year! 💜

I only wish I could have been in two places at once, especially to celebrate with everyone at NDHA's inaugural General Assembly in Reno this past Friday.

Thank you to the NDHA Board of Directors and members for this recognition, and for all you do to support and advance dental hygiene in Nevada. Serving this community has been one of the greatest joys of my career, and I'm so grateful to work alongside such passionate, dedicated professionals.🥰

With Gratitude,
Minette

Did you know myofunctional therapy has been around for over 100 years? 📜

In 1918, orthodontist Dr. Alfred P. Rogers introduced exercises for the face and mouth muscles. He noticed that how we breathe, swallow, and rest our tongue affects how our teeth and jaws develop. That idea became the foundation of orofacial myology. 👅🦷

In 1971, the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) was founded to set professional standards, support research, and certify therapists, so patients know they’re working with trained, qualified providers.

I just got back from the IAOM convention in Hawaii 🌺, where I learned from leaders in the field and connected with myo therapists from around the world. Sessions covered mold toxicity and airway inflammation, neural crest cell development, the tongue’s role in sleep patterns, primitive reflex testing, sound and vibrational frequency, and so much more! 🧠✨As a Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM®), I’m excited to bring it all back to my clients in Las Vegas.

Aloha from Hawaii!🏝️

I’m out of the office 10/15-10/18 for the IAOM (International Association of Orofacial Myology) convention, learning the latest in myofunctional therapy so I can bring even better care back to my clients. 🌊

I’ll have limited access to messages while I’m away, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I return. You can still book a free Discovery Call anytime through the link in bio.

Does your bedtime routine involve wearing a nightguard?💤
Do you still grind your teeth, even with it in?😬
A nightguard can protect your teeth, but it doesn’t address the root cause of the grinding or retrain the muscle habits driving the clenching. That’s where myofunctional therapy comes in.
This is my lower orthotic. For over 15 years, I went through 3 of them before I decided to address the real issue: my muscle dysfunction. Myofunctional therapy played an important part in retraining my muscles, and it’s why I’m pain-free today.

Your myo program isn’t one-size-fits-all.
At Exceptional Airways, we build each plan around your health goals: nasal breathing, quieter sleep, oral posture, tongue-tie preparation & recovery, TMJ comfort, or kids’ growth and development.
We start with a thorough eval, then design exercises that fit your life and we monitor progress each step of the way.

I tried NightLase so you don’t have to wonder. 😮‍💨

NightLase is a gentle laser treatment for snoring. The laser warms the soft tissue in the back of your mouth and throat. That helps the tissue tighten, so there may be less vibration (the snoring sound) when you sleep.

What it felt like for me:
• No needles and no numbing
• It felt warm, like sipping hot tea
• About 15 minutes, and I went right back to my day
• It’s usually done in 3 sessions about 3 weeks apart

Here’s the myo side: a laser can tighten tissue, but it doesn’t teach your tongue where to rest or help you breathe through your nose. That’s where myofunctional therapy comes in. Many people get the best results when the two work together.

Curious if NightLase or myo is right for you? Book a free 15-minute discovery call through the link in my bio. And through Oct 31, myo programs are 10% off for our Fall Sale. 🍂

NightLase is done by a trained dentist or doctor. I’m happy to point you to local providers. A big thank you to Cosmetic Dentist Las Vegas | Airway + Wellness for taking such great care of me! 💕

Happy O2 Day! 🌬️ Today (10/2) is all about oxygen, so let's talk about how you breathe.

Your nose is made for breathing. It filters, warms, and moistens the air before it reaches your lungs. Mouth breathing skips those steps, and it can lead to snoring, restless sleep, and a dry mouth.

Try this: close your lips, rest your tongue on the roof of your mouth, and take 3 slow breaths through your nose. How did that feel?

If nose breathing feels hard for you or your child, myofunctional therapy can help. And this month, all myo programs are 10% off through October 31. 🍂

This is one of my favorite parts of what I do. 🩷

My client came to me with a tongue tie that kept her tongue from lifting freely. After her myofunctional therapy and tongue tie release, she shares that her TMJ pain is gone, she's sleeping more restfully, and she feels like herself again.

Swipe to see how much more freely her tongue can lift and move now!

A tongue tie can affect more than speech or eating. Tongue posture is connected to your jaw, your breathing, and your sleep. Myo helps prepare for a release and supports healing afterward.

Wondering if a tongue tie might be part of your story? Tap the link in my bio to book a free discovery call.

Shared with my client's permission. Individual results vary.

Open mouth sleep → closed mouth sleep.

That shift matters more than people think.

Nasal breathing while you sleep supports better rest, healthier oral posture, and a calmer airway overnight. This is the kind of progress we work toward in myo — night and day.

Notice mouth breathing (yours or your kid’s)? Drop a 👀 below or send me a message — I’m happy to talk through what it can mean and what myo support looks like.
