Paralyzed Veterans of America releases statement on the attack outside the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan WASHINGTON (Aug. 26, 2021) — Paralyzed Veterans of America Executive Director Carl Blake today released the following statement on the attack outside the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan:

“The tragic events in Afghanistan today are a reminder of the need to support our men and women who have served and sacrificed over the last 20 years during the War on Terror, as well as those Gold Star families who have experienced the same losses. For the veterans and families from all eras struggling with the impact of their service and the horrific sights we have seen over the last couple of weeks, PVA cannot emphasize enough the importance of reaching out to the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 or via text at 838255.

PVA members understand the critical importance of supporting each other through their injuries and illnesses. During these times, we encourage not only our members but veterans of all eras to reach out to each other to give and receive support. PVA is there to assist all veterans and their families in any way we can.”

This week, PVA joined fellow VSOs, members of Congress, and Veterans for the introduction of the Brian Neuman and Mark O'Brien Clothing Allowance Improvement Acts. These bills, which honor two severely injured combat Veterans, would allow Veterans clothing allowances' to renew automatically each year. The annual application process for the clothing allowance is an unnecessary administrative burden for Veterans, including many PVA members, and VA alike and we thank Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) who is pictured with PVA Prosthetics Consultant Fred Downs below, Senator John Boozman (R-AR), Representative Mike Levin (D-CA), and U.S. Representative Barry Moore (R-AL), for their effort to eliminate it.

Voting in our great democracy is a point of pride for Americans, and over time many laws have been passed to extend this freedom to more Americans. For example, Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires state and local governments to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to vote. Title II assists those with disabilities, like Veterans, who have difficulty reading and marking a ballot or voting in loud environments.

More than 40 million Americans are estimated to hit the road this Independence Day – a 25% increase from last year. PVA reminds ALL of those venturing out on the highways this year to #HonorTheSpot by practicing 3 simple steps.

1. Don’t park in handicapped parking spots – no matter the excuse!

2. Don’t borrow, share, or misuse handicapped placards – even for a minute.

3. Take PVA’s Honor the Spot Pledge before heading out.

Visit PVA.org/HonorTheSpot to learn more and help be part of the solution.

Hi
It was fun snd an honor to help out today as a Range Safety Officer at the Paralyzed Veterans Of America Nevada Chapter Pistol Shoot.
Do not do any business with the car dealership / lot associated with this organization ( https://npvaauto.com/ ) . Rude, liars and rip-off artist. Do not trust these people or anything they tell you. I was lied to and mobility chair trailer was sold out from under me despite being told that it would not happen. Filing complaints. This is the kind of slimy used car salesman tactics that you would expect from someone else but not from a recognized charitable organization. They lied about wire transfers, they lied about holding an item until I could get an accessible ride to get there , and they lied about talking to me on the phone multiple times. I offered my DD214 and my money in advance and was told not to worry - and ended up empty handed.
