One of the most common questions we hear: Do mammograms cause cancer?

It’s understandable to have questions about radiation. The good news is that mammograms use a very low dose of radiation, and the risk associated with that exposure is extremely small.

In fact, the radiation from a typical mammogram is comparable to about three months of natural background radiation we encounter in everyday life.

Why does screening matter? Mammograms can detect breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear. Early detection may mean more treatment options, less extensive treatment, and better outcomes.
