Last Friday, we had the honor of sponsoring the U.S.VETS - Las Vegas Veteran Stand Down at the World Market Center. This event, organized by U.S. VETS Las Vegas, is dedicated to providing crucial support and resources to veterans who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness. It's a powerful coming together of various organizations, volunteers, and service providers to offer comprehensive services and essential resources like healthcare, job assistance, housing support, legal aid, and basic necessities. The goal is nothing short of transforming the lives of veterans in need under one roof in a single day.

Today, we acknowledge PTSD Awareness Day and stand with everyone affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This condition, triggered by traumatic events, profoundly impacts the lives of many, including our brave Veterans.

At VBG, we stand with Veterans who have PTSD due to their military experiences. We are committed to supporting their journey toward healing and recovery. Understanding PTSD, helping those in need, and sharing resources can make a significant difference.

Earlier this month, we were privileged to feature U.S. Navy Veteran TJ Henderson during a Vegas Golden Knights playoff game. TJ served our country for 6 years, separating in 2011 as a Petty Officer Second Class. His distinguished service includes a deployment to Afghanistan in 2009, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Following his service, TJ founded the Veteran Social Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to re-engaging veterans through social gatherings, athletic team sports, and community service projects.

Thank you, TJ, for your service and your continued commitment to our veteran community!

During a Vegas Golden Knights game, VBG had the honor of recognizing Michelle Curran, a U.S. Air Force veteran. Michelle served as an O-4 and Lead Solo Pilot for the USAF Thunderbirds, showcasing her courage and skill high up in the clouds. She was deployed to Afghanistan in 2016, where she displayed her dedication to the safety of our country, earning accolades such as the Air Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

But that's not all Michelle is known for! She is also a best-selling children's author who captivatingly captures young minds with her "Upside Down Dreams" series and an international keynote speaker who pushes audiences to be bold, face their fear, and apply her lessons from inside the cockpit of an F-16 to their own lives.

We are honored to have recognized Rayshawn Williams, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, for his exceptional service to the nation during a Vegas Golden Knights game. Rayshawn has served two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and he has been awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and the Achievement Medal for his outstanding service.

After completing his military service, Rayshawn joined the UNLV Military and Veteran Service Center and has been working with the UNLV Peer Advisors for Veterans Education program to assist transitioning veterans.

This past week, we honored U.S. Army Veteran Monse Cristando-Romo at the Vegas Golden Knights game. Monse served in the military as a Brigade Human Resources Specialist. Her service included deployments to Kuwait and Iraq under Operation Enduring Freedom. She has received many awards throughout her service, such as the Army Achievement Medal, Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Monse continues to serve veterans and active-duty service members. Thank you, Monse, for your service.
