We started collecting messages of hope and resilience from people in our community to reduce mental health stigma and build connection. 💌
Here's what they've shared:

- Please never give up xo
- I pause and pay attention to how I am breathing. Then I take several deep breaths and move my body. It helps me release the hard feelings and shift my perspective a little.

Each week during flu season, we track Douglas County emergency department (ED) visits and Lawrence, KS wastewater levels to keep you informed of how respiratory illnesses are spreading in our community.

This week's edition features an updated format for our data visualizations. Additionally, you can find a new interactive version of this update at data.ldchealth.org/respiratory/

This week, ED visits related to COVID, flu, and RSV are low, under 1% of visits.

COVID virus levels are currently high in sampled wastewater in Lawrence. Influenza A virus levels are at medium levels while Influenza B continues to be low. Levels of RSV are also low.

The best way to prevent respiratory illness is by getting vaccinated. Visit ldchealth.org/vaccine-selfschedule for upcoming flu and COVID walk-in clinics, or call 785-843-0721 to schedule your appointment.

Everyone can take action to reduce the spread of respiratory viruses!
Practice good hygiene by covering your coughs and sneezes.
Wash your hands often.
Clean frequently touched surfaces.
Stay home when you're sick.
