Magnesium plays a role in over 300 processes in your body, including nerve function, muscle relaxation, and your stress response.

Sleepless nights during perimenopause can make an already demanding day feel even harder. And when you’re doing your best to get quality sleep but still waking up exhausted, that frustration adds up. Magnesium may be the missing piece.

Here’s something you should know. The form of magnesium you take matters. Some forms aren’t absorbed as well and can leave you dealing with an upset gut. digestive discomfort instead.

That’s one reason I created Mag Synergy, a physician-formulated blend with three forms of magnesium, including glycinate, plus herbals that help you get a good nights sleep.

I believe women deserve to know what they’re putting into their bodies and why it matters. Especially during perimenopause, an intentional nighttime routine can be one more way to give your body the support it needs.

I know what it feels like to do all the “right” things and still struggle with weight gain in perimenopause.

I’m a double board-certified OB-GYN and obesity medicine physician, yet I gained 60 lbs following the traditional weight-loss advice I’d been taught.

I understand the frustration of putting in the effort without seeing results. That was my experience, too.

My turning point came when I understood what my body needed during perimenopause, including hormonal and metabolic changes missing from my approach.

That journey led me to develop my 5-Step Midlife Metabolic Blueprint, which helped me lose 60 lbs and now guides my work with my patients.

So when a woman tells me she’s doing everything she knows to do and the weight still won’t budge, I believe her. And I know there’s more to the conversation than eating less and exercising more.

That’s why I’m hosting a FREE LIVE master class TONIGHT, Thursday, October 15, at 7:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM CT:
“How I Lost 60 lbs in Perimenopause Using the Blueprint Med School Never Taught Me.”

Saving your seat is easy! Use the link to register, then join me live tonight. I want you to leave understanding that your body isn’t working against you. It deserves the right support.

Perimenopause may be the reason you are not sleeping. As progesterone declines, its calming influence on the brain can change, while fluctuating estrogen can trigger nighttime temperature swings that make it harder to fall asleep or stay asleep.

Perimenopause can leave you exhausted at bedtime and staring at the clock at 2:22 AM, wondering why your body refuses to settle down.

Your sleepless nights deserve more than being brushed off as stress, aging, or a late cup of coffee.

What time do you keep finding yourself staring at the clock when you should be asleep? Let me know in the comments.

Hot flashes and cravings in menopause are not always driven by hormones alone.

Blood sugar swings, nutrition patterns, and other metabolic factors can create symptoms that look hormonal on the surface, even when there is more going on underneath.
That is why I look at what else may be contributing to the symptoms you are experiencing before assuming menopause is the cause.

Have you experienced a “menopause pretender” yourself?

Perimenopause weight loss is not just about eating less and exercising more. I’m a double board-certified OB-GYN and obesity medicine physician, and I still gained 60 lbs while following the traditional weight-loss playbook I had been taught.

The turning point for me was learning what my body actually needed in perimenopause and addressing the hormonal and metabolic pieces that had been missing. Your body is divinely designed, and when you give it the right support in the right order, the strategy can change.

That became the 5-Step Midlife Metabolic Blueprint I used to lose 60 lbs, and it is the same framework I now use with women in my practice.

Join me LIVE Thursday, October 15 at 7:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM CT for my FREE master class: “How I Lost 60 lbs in Perimenopause Using the Blueprint Med School Never Taught Me.”

I’ll walk you through the hidden drivers that can make weight loss harder in midlife and the 5-step blueprint that helped me finally make sense of what my body needed.

Saving your seat is easy. First, use the link to register.
Second, join me live on October 15 and come ready to learn what may be standing in the way of your progress in Perimenopause.

Cortisol gets blamed for many things in perimenopause, but cortisol itself is not the problem. You actually need it to wake up, respond to stress, and help your body function throughout the day.

The real problem starts when that stress response stays elevated and your body does not get enough recovery. That is when cortisol can start to feel like the bad guy, but instead of trying to eliminate it, look at what keeps you on high alert.

Let’s talk in the comments. What do you notice first when your stress is running high?

Belly fat after 40 is often a metabolic and hormonal shift, not a failure of discipline.

Perimenopause can change where your body stores fat, while changes in muscle, sleep, and blood sugar also have an impact.

The answer is not simply eating less. It is understanding the changes you are experiencing in your body, then addressing the factors driving fat storage strategically.

Perimenopausal women who experience changes in energy, weight, sleep and mood are often dismissed and told they are just getting older.

Here are the six areas I would check before calling your symptoms “just aging”:

1. Hormones
Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone can affect sleep, mood, energy, body composition, and libido.

2. Thyroid function
Your thyroid helps control metabolism, energy, digestion, and body temperature. When thyroid function changes, it can look a lot like common midlife symptoms.

3. Blood sugar and insulin
Cravings, afternoon energy crashes, belly fat, and trouble losing weight can be signs that your blood sugar and insulin need a closer look.

4. Sleep quality
Being in bed for seven or eight hours does not always mean you are getting deep, restorative sleep. Frequent waking, snoring, and waking up tired all matter.

5. Stress and recovery
Long-term stress can affect cortisol, sleep, appetite, blood sugar, and how well your body recovers.

6. Nutrition and muscle
Protein, fiber, key nutrients, and muscle become even more important after 40. They help support metabolism, strength, energy, and healthy aging.

When you know which systems need the most support, you can make more focused choices instead of guessing.

Remember, your body is divinely designed and has a great capacity to heal. We just need to give the body back what it needs.

Which one of these 6 areas do you need to work on first?

Your symptoms are not isolated — weight gain, fatigue, and mood swings can often be connected to hormones, stress, inflammation and gut health.
