๐๐ฐ DIY Fall Sensory Bin: Nature Scavenger Hunt Edition! ๐ฐ๐
Our friends headed outside on a fall scavenger hunt, searching high and low for treasures to fill our very own fall sensory bin! ๐๐ They found crunchy leaves, bumpy pinecones, smooth acorns, and so much more. Then we brought it all inside to explore with our hands, eyes, ears, and nose. ๐
Want to make one at home? Hereโs how! ๐
๐งบ What youโll need:
๐ A large bin or tub
๐ฝ A base filler like dried corn, dry beans, or rice
๐ Your scavenger hunt finds: leaves, pinecones, acorns, sticks, and small gourds
๐ฅ Scoops, cups, or tongs for extra fun
๐ How to make it:
1๏ธโฃ Go on a hunt! Take a walk outside and collect fall treasures. Make it a game by listing things to find: something crunchy, something bumpy, something smooth, something red!
2๏ธโฃ Clean up your finds. Shake off dirt and let leaves and pinecones dry completely.
3๏ธโฃ Build your bin. Pour in your base filler, then mix in your nature finds.
4๏ธโฃ Explore! Dig, scoop, sort by color or size, crunch the leaves, and talk about how everything feels, smells, and sounds. ๐ถ
๐ก Tip: Always supervise sensory play, especially with small items like acorns and dried corn.
Sensory bins are a great way to build fine motor skills, practice sorting and describing, and enjoy the beauty of fall, even when youโre indoors. ๐
