Cancer affects more than the body. Breast cancer can affect physical health, but the emotional impact can be significant, too. A diagnosis may bring fear, anxiety, sadness, anger, uncertainty, or changes in how someone sees their body and future.

It's okay to be scared.
It's okay to be angry.
It's okay to cry.
It's okay to have difficult days.
There is room for hope and hard emotions.

A diagnosis does not define a person's worth. You are still you...with dreams, strengths, relationships, talents, and a life beyond cancer.

If you're supporting someone through cancer, don't underestimate the power of showing up. Mental health deserves a place in every breast cancer conversation.

October is a month of awareness, compassion, and understanding.
Today marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These three important observances shine a light on experiences that affect individuals, families, and communities in different ways.

While each deserves attention in its own right, throughout the month of October we’ll also be taking a closer look at mental health and how it intersects with each of these experiences…from trauma and healing, to caregiving and grief, as well as the potential emotional impact.

Let’s use this month to learn, listen, support one another, and remember that behind every statistic is a person with a story.
