Under eye filler can make a big difference, however, realistic expectations are extremely important when treating this area. Tear trough filler is designed to soften hollows and create smoother transition between the lower eyelid and cheek. It cannot erase every shadow, completely eliminate, dark circles, change skin quality, or make the under eye area perfectly smooth.
The under eye area is also one where less is often more. Overfilling in an attempt to completely eliminate a problem can actually create puffiness, heaviness, or an unnatural appearance. Sometimes the best results mean accepting a small amount of residual hollowness rather than chasing perfection.
Most importantly, not everyone is a good candidate for tear trough filler. Anatomy, skin quality, existing under bags or fluid retention, and cheek support all matter. In some patients, treating the midface is a better option. Sometimes even choosing to not treat with filler at all is best.
The goal is always improvement that still looks natural and what is best for the individual patient.
