Things we normalize but might actually be signs we’re overwhelmed… 🍂

• Needing an entire day to recover from a busy weekend
• Replaying a conversation hours after it ended
• Feeling irritated when one more thing gets added to your plate
• Saying “I’m fine” because explaining how you feel seems exhausting
• Feeling guilty when you finally sit down to rest
• Being so used to doing everything yourself that asking for help feels uncomfortable

Sometimes we get so used to operating in survival mode that we forget to ask ourselves how we’re actually doing.

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely burned out to give yourself permission to slow down. 🤍

Which one feels the most relatable to you?

When your brain won’t turn off… 🧠🤍

Sometimes thoughts don’t simply come and go.
Sometimes they get stuck.

You may find yourself replaying conversations, seeking reassurance, checking, overthinking, or feeling like you need certainty before you can move forward.

You are not your thoughts.

Learning to respond differently to difficult thoughts can take time — and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

🤍 Courtney Baumann, LCPC, NCC, CDBT, has experience supporting individuals navigating OCD, anxiety, and the challenges that come with feeling stuck in thought patterns. Therapy can help you better understand these patterns and develop tools to manage them with greater confidence.

You deserve support, understanding, and a space where you don’t have to navigate it all alone.

You deserve to feel safe. You deserve to be heard. You deserve support. 💜

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month — a time to bring awareness to the realities of abuse and remind those experiencing it that they are not alone.

At Compassion in Action Counseling, Alex, LCPC, has experience supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence, trauma, relationship challenges, pregnancy and postpartum experiences, and loss.

Alex provides a compassionate, judgment-free space to help clients:

* Process experiences of abuse and trauma
* Rebuild confidence and self-worth
* Navigate difficult relationships and life transitions
* Establish healthy boundaries
* Work toward healing and feeling empowered

You don’t have to be ready to have all the answers before reaching out. Therapy can be a place to begin making sense of what you’ve experienced and explore what comes next.

Your story matters. Your safety matters. Your healing matters.

💜 Alex sees clients both in person and virtually.

Keep asking.
Keep listening.
Keep showing up.
Keep making space for difficult conversations.

You never know when a simple “How are you really doing?” might be exactly what someone needs to hear.

Let’s keep the conversation going. 💙

🚔 Happy Thank a Police Officer Day! 💙

Today, we’re taking a moment to thank the men and women who serve, protect, and show up for our communities every day.

At Compassion in Action Counseling, we’re especially proud to have Courtney and Alex, both First Responder Friendly therapists, who understand the unique challenges that can come with serving in law enforcement.

Thank you to all the officers who put others first. We see you. We appreciate you. We’re grateful for you. 💙

Sometimes the signs that someone is struggling aren’t obvious.

Pay attention to changes in:
• Mood or behavior
• Sleep or eating habits
• Withdrawing from others
• Giving away meaningful belongings
• Feeling hopeless or like a burden
• Talking about death, disappearing, or not wanting to be here

You don’t have to know exactly what to say. You just have to be willing to notice, ask, and listen. 💜🩵

September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month—a time to remind ourselves that mental health struggles deserve to be talked about, not hidden. 💜🩵

If you’re worried about someone, don’t be afraid to ask:

“Are you okay?”
“Do you want to talk?”
“How can I support you?”

Sometimes, simply knowing someone cares can make a difference.

And if you are struggling, please know that you don’t have to carry it alone. Reaching out for support is not weakness. It’s courage.

When life gets busy, self-care is often the first thing we cross off the list.

Instead of waiting until you’re burned out, ask yourself:

• Have I been sleeping enough?
• Have I taken a break today?
• Have I checked in with myself emotionally?

Taking care of yourself helps you show up for everyone else.

Even five intentional minutes can make a difference.
