This is the stark reality of the majority of independent pharmacies around the country. When you hear about stores closing, it a pretty sterile message. They were there, then they closed. Oh well. Scroll on.
This woman, like thousands of other pharmacist entrepreneurs, threw her savings, time and identity into her store all to have it stolen by PBM greed. She employs local residents, donates to local charities and cares for her community. Now that is under threat of closure/ bankruptcy, not because there is no business, actually the opposite, volume is great. Its with each prescription she fills, she's drilling a tiny hole in her boat. She's financially subsidizing her patients' prescriptions. When is enough, enough? PBM reform cannot wait till 2029. It must happen now.

This is the reality for so many independent pharmacy owners. If it weren’t for a MedicalRx’s dispensing fee they would be nearly non-existent in California by now.

Fair Jones is filling more prescriptions than ever at the small-town Mississippi pharmacy she spent years dreaming of owning. But instead of watching her business grow alongside the demand, the 38-year-old pharmacist says she is working harder for less money and wondering how long she can keep going.

Most people think pharmacies make money on prescriptions.
Here’s and analogy:
Imagine being offered a job where some months you’re paid… and some months you have to pay your employer.
Would you accept that? Of course, not.
However, that’s what’s happening to independent pharmacies.
We don’t set drug prices. PBMs (pharmacy benefit managers) (our "employer"), decide what we’re paid. Often, that payment is less than what we paid to buy the medication.
That means we lose money just for serving our patients.
No business can survive long selling products below cost.
We’re not asking for more than anyone else.
We’re asking for a fair system — one where pharmacies aren’t forced to dip into savings just to keep the doors open.
Because when local pharmacies close, communities lose access to care.
It’s time for transparency. It’s time for fairness.

Congress has to put a stop to this before it's too late. (Its already too late for many small pharmacies)

It's taken a while, and we're still not done, but soon enough Lindale will have a great new option for eyecare.
