For some veterans, coming home doesn't mean the battle is over.
A trained service dog can provide support through difficult moments while helping a veteran regain confidence and independence in everyday life.

At Saving Grace, supporting veterans is especially meaningful to us. Because sometimes serving those who served means putting the right four paws beside them. 🇺🇸🐾

For someone with autism, the world can sometimes feel very loud. A trained service dog can offer a familiar, steady presence when surroundings become overwhelming.

Through grounding, companionship, interruption behaviors, and other individually trained tasks, that partnership can help make everyday experiences feel more manageable.

Sometimes the greatest support is simply knowing you're not navigating the world alone. 💙🐾

🐾 MYTH BUSTERS
MYTH: Service dogs are only for people with visible disabilities.
FACT: Many disabilities aren't immediately apparent.

Service dogs may assist people with neurological conditions, seizure disorders, PTSD, autism, and other disabilities that you may not recognize simply by looking at someone.

When you see a working service dog, remember: you don't need to understand someone's disability to respect their service dog team.

🐾 SERVICE DOG AWARENESS
A service dog may look calm and effortless while working, but there are countless hours of training behind that behavior.

Learning to ignore distractions, respond reliably to their handler, navigate public spaces, and perform specific tasks takes time, consistency, and teamwork.

The polished service dog you see in public represents a lot of work from both ends of the leash!

A nose can be a powerful thing. 🐾

Through scent-based training, dogs can learn to recognize changes associated with seizures and provide an alert.

That warning may give their handler precious time to get somewhere safe, seek help, or prepare for what’s coming.
It’s one more example of how specialized training can turn a dog’s natural abilities into life-changing support.

🐾 DID YOU KNOW?
A service dog’s job isn’t always something you can see.
Some are trained to recognize subtle changes in behavior, scent, movement, or body chemistry — and respond before their person even realizes something is happening.

That quiet work can make an incredible difference in someone’s independence and confidence.

Service dogs don’t just respond. They pay attention.

At the heart of every service dog team is a relationship built on trust. 💙
Training teaches skills, but partnership develops through time spent learning and working together.
Handler and dog learn each other's routines, signals, needs, and expectations.
That's why we don't just focus on training dogs.
We help build teams.

You see an adorable service dog in public.
Your first thought: I NEED TO PET THAT DOG. 🐶
Your second thought should be: They're working.
Petting, calling to, whistling at, or otherwise trying to get a service dog's attention can distract them from the person they're trained to assist.
The best way to show a working service dog some love?
Let them work. 💙🐾
