Your health has no age limit—know the signs and get checked.

Colon cancer is increasing among younger adults, though no single cause explains it. Risk factors may include family history, inherited conditions, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, inactivity, diet, alcohol, and smoking. However, many young patients have no clear risk factor.

Watch for re**al bleeding, persistent bowel changes, abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or anemia. Screening usually begins at age 45,
but those with symptoms or higher risk may need earlier testing.

Last night we celebrated a giant — Dr. Carl Johnson — at a retirement party that felt more like a homecoming. Carl, your quiet strength, relentless compassion, and tireless dedication have healed bodies, soothed fears, and lifted spirits across Arkansas for decades. You taught us how to listen, how to fight for our patients, and how to lead with humility.

Because of you, families stayed whole, careers were inspired, and communities grew stronger. Thank you for every long night, every gentle word, every lesson passed on. We honor not just your work, but the way you made people feel seen and cared for. Retirement is only a new chapter — Arkansas is forever better because of you.
