Peer led. Here's what that means and why it matters.
At Village Public Health, peer led means young people do more than receive information. They create it, shape it, and share it with each other. They are the authors, the illustrators, the teachers, and the leaders.
Our Summer Institute students did exactly that. Their book, *Next Generation*, is finally here, written and illustrated entirely by Summer Institute participants. And these two got the very first copies.
๐ Londyn led this project from start to finish.
๐จ Jai was one of the illustrators who brought every page to life.
Why does this matter?
Young people often trust and hear each other in ways they may not hear adults. When a message comes from someone who shares their experience, it lands differently. And when students teach, they understand the material more deeply themselves. Peer leadership builds health knowledge, confidence, and voice all at once.
This book is proof of what happens when we hand young people the pen. We are so proud of you both, and of every Summer Institute student whose work fills these pages. ๐
A copy will also live in the calm room at their school so their peers have access to the tool.
