Tools of the trade - how graphic design was done BEFORE point & click or AI.
Back in the 80's when I was in high school, I apprenticed with my dad at his advertising agency. He taught me how to do cut & paste layouts with these tools that I still have. And I doubt young graphic designers now would know what they are or even have a clue how to use them.
As convenient as computers and design software have become, I miss the hands-on work in the creative industries. Makes me grateful to be a tattooer now and have a job that AI (hopefully) can’t find a way to do away with.

The wall behind my station has always been an eyesore to me, so last year I started a mural of a CM Russell cowboy sketch that I ended up not liking and painting over. So I mulled over a bunch of ideas for a few months and chose a simple but dynamic mountain scene that’s finally finished and I’m really happy with!
(Also, painting a light, translucent color over dark brown takes so much longer than it looks!)
And since most of the paintings in the front rooms are my dad’s, I decided to hang a bunch of my own paintings on my side of the rooms. Also switched some things around and got some more vintage artwork up on the bathroom wall.
Feels good to get things done that I’ve been dragging my feet on!

I really love this shop 🩷
