Birdability Week is an annual celebration of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging in birding and the outdoors.
It is also a chance to learn from disabled birders. Our lived experience and leadership help bird clubs, parks, nature centers, conservation organizations, and other communities understand what access is in practice.
That includes accessible routes and restrooms. It also includes clear event descriptions, seating, flexible pacing, sensory information, ASL interpretation, captions, adaptive equipment, transportation, welcoming attitudes, and the joy of birding community.
Birdability Week 2026 is October 19 through 25. Join us as we bird where we are and keep building birding communities where more people can participate.

The Director of the Utah Assistive Technology Program (UATP), Bora Lee, was awarded a grant earlier this fall to provide training to service providers that help people with disabilities that live independently through the state. The funding came from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Bora Grant commented on the barriers that these individuals face:
“What interested me most about this work is recognizing that survivors with disabilities can face additional barriers when trying to access victim services,” Lee said. “Those barriers can involve communication, technology, physical access, or simply not knowing what accommodations and resources are available.
