Movement is medicine
I had the honor of being one of the featured speakers at the Fit Together conference: Training The Temple.
I had good response and good questions from people that attended. That opened up some good 1 on 1 conversations.
I'd say one of the biggest things I tried to get across was to have, or gain, an awareness of your body and movement. Because like my good friends in the G.I. Joe's use to tell me, "knowing is half the battle."

Our body's are made to adapt. These adaptations are how our body's deal with something... Lack. Excess. Comfort.
Rather than name all of the possible things that could be in the lack catagory or could be in the excess category. The comfort category could be more interesting. These are the things that reinforce and ingrain our mannerisms . These are the things that keep us in a repetitive way of moving. These could be the things that cause us to have reoccurring pain. I hesitate to say there is a cost to remaining in the comfort, but maybe more accurately theres a trade off.
Like I mention in the video. If you don't have enough mobility in an area you will borrow it from somewhere else. If you don't have enough stability in an area you will borrow it from somewhere else also. The trade off and/or the cost depends on the goal... and if the goal changes so must the comfort.
