The Cosmic Drumbeat
from Sarina Michaels
Sometimes I think the whole universe is like one great drum circle. Not a loud one — more like that steady, ancient heartbeat you feel when you sit quietly and put your hand on the earth.
Everywhere you go, that rhythm is there.
In your breath.
In the tides.
In the way stars pulse and galaxies spiral.
Even in the way your own heart learned to beat before you ever had a thought in your head.
That’s the cosmic drum.
Shamans talk about the drum as a bridge between worlds, but really, the drum is just reminding us of something we already know:
we belong to the rhythm of creation. We’re not separate from it. We’re inside it.
When life feels chaotic, out of sync, or overwhelming, don’t try to fix everything at once.
Come back to the beat — slow, steady, loving.
Sometimes it’s actual drumming.
Sometimes it’s breathing.
Sometimes it’s just sitting with feet on the ground and remembering: the universe hasn’t lost the rhythm…
We’ve just stepped away from listening.
And the beautiful thing?
The beat never stops.
It waits for you.
Patiently.
Like an old friend at the fire.
So when you feel lost, tired, or unsure of your path, pause…
and listen. The cosmic drum is still playing — and you’re part of the song. 🥁✨
