5 things I learned going back to the gym 🏋🏾‍♀️⬇️

1️⃣ Deciding to go IS the hardest part of the workout
2️⃣ Muscle memory doesn’t forget you (even when you forget it)
3️⃣ Consistency > perfection
4️⃣ Everything is easier with a gym bestie
5️⃣ It’s NEVER too late to start

If you’ve been thinking about going back — this is your sign 👇🏾

End of last year… I was running on empty.
No inspiration. No desire to post. Just… quiet.

Then 2026 hit. I cut my hair off (whew 😮‍💨 more on that in my newsletter). Between being sick twice, cosmic chaos, and America giving third world economy vibes…I just didn’t feel like I had anything to say.

And honestly?
I didn’t want to become someone who only posts the highlight reel. So the posts I made were for the organizations I lead and for people I like.

Because life was still happening.
I was just in the middle of processing it; the why, the how, all of it.

If you know anything about me, you know I do my best thinking in solitude.
And while I’m still figuring some things out…the who and the why feel a lot clearer now.

Also, just to be clear: I’m not a guru. Never have been, never will be.

But YESTERDAY?
Something shifted.

I had a powerful brainstorming + co-creative co-working session with and whew… the fog lifted. The clarity came back. The energy came back. I came back.

Are you ready to go on this fantastic voyage with me?

Anybody else been feeling a little over it lately?

Board leadership has its perks every now and then 👀🏀

This week that meant catching the Lakers game from a box suite while connecting with some amazing people.

Huge thank you to Steerpoint Capital for hosting . Nights like this remind me that the best part of these experiences isn’t just the game…while LA did win. It’s the conversations, relationships, and opportunities that come from showing up and staying involved.

Grateful to serve and excited to keep building with this community.

100 years of Black history. And we’re still building.

This year’s Market Forecast Breakfast was in part an economic conversation however, it was a moment of reflection and responsibility to keep moving forward.

As we mark the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, we honored the legacy of those who paved the way and who are leading the way today.

🙏🏾Thank you to for your remarks that set the stage for our Black History Month tribute video.

🙏🏾Thank you to Moussa Diop for a sobering, thoughtful analysis of the current state of the U.S. economy and how it impacts real estate.

🙏🏾Thank you to Malcolm Johnson for expertly moderating our esteemed panel of industry leaders: Terri Batch , Taylor , and Ron Frierson who shared practical insight and lived experience about how the global games can have lasting impact.

🙌🏾Deep appreciation to our board leaders, student volunteers, and member volunteers whose service made this gathering seamless: , Jazmin Nickerson, Chloe Jackson

Legacy is something we extend and continue to leave behind in our communities and with our work.

And in rooms like this, you can feel that extension happening in real time. Let’s keep building! 💪🏾

Hope your 2025 has allowed you to shed light on areas that needed release, discernment, or visibility. I know this year will go down as one that has tested my faith, resolve to keep showing up and a reminder that Ubuntu is alive and well.

If you’re in a season of reflection, recalibration, or quiet clarity, this one’s for you.

As 2025 comes to a close, I took time to pause—not to summarize accomplishments, but to reflect on what this year actually required of me.

This year asked for visibility.
It strengthened my discernment.
And it invited a lot of release—of people pleasing, rigid expectations, and how I thought things should look.

In my latest newsletter, I’m sharing:
• What I built and what shifted
• What I learned about alignment, leadership, and community
• Why guardrails, agreements, and grounded containers matter more than ever

And I’m inviting readers to reflect too:
What have you taken in from 2025—and what are you ready to put down?
