That first morning your throat feels a little scratchy and your feet just won’t warm up? That’s Hánlù (寒露), or Cold Dew, arriving on October 8.
In TCM, this is when autumn dryness turns from warm to cool and settles in a little deeper. Your throat, skin and digestion tend to notice it first, even if your city is still holding on to summer. A few simple ways to move with the season:
🍐 Cook your pears. Steamed pear with honey is the classic.
🧦 Keep your feet warm. As the old saying goes, 寒從腳起 (hán cóng jiǎo qǐ), cold enters from the feet.
🍲 Lean on moistening foods like lily bulb, snow fungus and lotus root.
Shā Shēn (coastal glehnia root) and Yù Zhú (fragrant solomonseal rhizome) are two classic autumn herbs traditionally used to nourish and moisten. You’ll find both in Noo Gut, for daily digestive support as the air turns dry.
Save this for the first chilly morning.
