The LACMA team joined more than 40 💙 as we traveled to Sacramento for the California Medical Association 55th House of Delegates. Together with colleagues from across the state, our delegation debated and shaped policy on the issues that matter most to physicians, patients and the future of medicine.

Following a productive weekend, LACMA is especially proud to celebrate three physician leaders with deep ties to Los Angeles who are helping lead CMA:

• Jack Chou, MD, CMA’s 158th President
• George A. Fouras, MD DFAACAP, Speaker of the House
• Anna Yap, MD, Vice Speaker of the House who trained in Los Angeles

As Dr. Chou reminded delegates: “I cannot promise an easy year or that every fight will go our way. But I can promise you this: none of us—none of us—will face it alone.”

From our delegation meetings to the House floor, LACMA members brought the experience and perspectives of L.A. County’s physician community to the statewide policymaking process.

The gathering also gave us the opportunity to honor LACMA’s retiring CEO, Gustavo Friederichsen, and recognize his leadership, service and steadfast commitment to L.A. County’s physicians. It was a meaningful moment to celebrate the impact he has made on LACMA and organized medicine.

THANK YOU to delegation chair Ilan Shapiro MD MBA FAAP FACHE and all of our 💙 who took time away from their practices and families to participate, share their voices and represent our healthcare community.

Please join us in congratulating Drs. Chou, Fouras and Yap! We look forward to their leadership as and continue advocating for physicians and patients throughout California!

Los Angeles healthcare does not move forward because of one organization, one hospital, or one leader.

It moves forward when physicians, healthcare executives, policymakers, innovators, philanthropists, and community leaders come together around the challenges that matter most.

That is what makes the Los Angeles Healthcare Awards different.

On November 13, we will gather at the Beverly Wilshire to recognize individuals whose leadership is strengthening healthcare across Los Angeles County, while bringing together the people helping shape what comes next.

It is an evening to celebrate impact, strengthen relationships, and connect with leaders from across the healthcare community.

Join us for the 13th Annual Los Angeles Healthcare Awards.
